The esports tournament, THROW THE SPARK 2026 Sakura City Tournament, takes place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the Sakura City Shizu Community Center!
Admission is free. In addition to competitive play, the event features hands-on activities for attendees of all ages, as well as food and local specialty booths.
The pro esports team SETOUCHI SPARKS, based in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, organized the esports project THROW THE SPARK, which launched in September 2025 in Okayama City as a full-scale league tournament.
The event collaborates with esports teams and communities across Chiba Prefecture, marking an event of unprecedented scale for the region.
Through esports, the organizers aim to create a hub of excitement where everyone—regardless of age, gender, physical ability, or location—can experience the thrill of competition and connect across generations.
Organizers also integrate local resources to highlight the city's unique charm, a key component of their promotional strategy.
Diverse Events Scheduled
The following competitive tournaments run throughout the day.
Fortnite Time Attack Hokusō Four Cities Edo Journey: Townscapes of Hokusō
Competitors will race for the best times on a course that recreates the historic townscapes of Sakura, Narita, Choshi, and Katori—collectively known as the Japan Heritage site, “Hokusō Four Cities Edo Journey.”
This project utilizes real-world landmarks as a gaming stage to showcase the appeal of the Hokusō region.
Street Fighter 6 Sakura City Tournament
This qualifying tournament for the national finals features a total prize pool of 1 million yen.
Minecraft Tournament
In this creative tournament, participants build their ideal town based on a set theme, giving kids a chance to unleash their imaginations.
Grand Reversi (Othello) Tournament
The popular Reversi tournament also includes a snack grab, ensuring fun for even the youngest participants.
New Puzzle Game SHIKA-Q Tournament and Demo Event
A tournament and hands-on demo for the new puzzle game will run simultaneously.
Organizers accept on-site entries on a first-come, first-served basis.
