On Monday, February 23, 2026, Evo, the world's largest fighting game tournament, introduced its vision for the future in a post on its official website titled "Beginning The Next Evolution. Evo was acquired by the Saudi Arabian company RTS in February of 2026, and its future has been under scrutiny, but this announcement seems to be aimed at dispelling the doubts of the community.
Evo has stated that it will continue its philosophy that " the community is the origin of fighting games. From the second half of 2026, Evo will devote significant resources to local tournaments around the world, which will serve as the foundation of the community, to make them sustainable. The company also aims to fundamentally solve the issues that local tournaments face in terms of equipment, recognition, and player connectivity.
The new Evo team also stated that there will be no changes to the management policies, scale of investment, or format of the events that have been held in the U.S., Japan, and France, as well as the upcoming event in Singapore. In addition, as part of its long-term commitment to bringing fighting game players together, the following countries will be announced as new venues for the tournament

- Saudi Arabia

Evo has also announced plans to hold a brand new tournament format to determine the "True Fighting Game Grandmaster. In this format, players will be required to demonstrate their overall skills in multiple fighting games, and the titles to be used will be selected from "the latest titles" and "historical masterpieces". The competition will be held in either the United States or Japan, the birthplace of Evo.
