Nintendo revealed MARIO KART WORLD, the largest-scale entry in the franchise's history, as a Nintendo Switch 2 title during Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 – 2025.4.2. This revolutionary installment features a seamless open world where every location becomes a potential race course.
Grand Prix Evolved
The classic Grand Prix mode returns with a twist - the routes between courses now become part of the racing experience!
Races now support up to 24 players, creating the most chaotic Mario Kart experience yet.
New "Survival" Mode: Cross-Continental Racing
The new Survival mode challenges players to race non-stop across the entire world map. Starting with 24 racers, competitors who fail to reach checkpoints in qualifying positions get eliminated, creating intense battles until only one driver remains.
"Free Run" Exploration Mode

Release Information
Launching with Nintendo Switch 2
MARIO KART WORLD releases alongside Nintendo Switch 2 on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Pre-orders begin Thursday, April 24, 2025 at My Nintendo Store and retailers.
A Nintendo Switch 2 MARIO KART WORLD Bundle including the console and digital game will also launch on June 5, 2025. This limited bundle will be available through lottery sales at My Nintendo Store, with application details announced after noon on Friday, April 4, 2025. Retail pre-orders begin April 24, 2025.
