The Pokémon Company has announced that the Game Boy Advance software Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, originally released in 2004, will be released for the Nintendo Switch.
It will launch on Friday, February 27, 2026, and a deluxe Special Edition including a download card and a glass Poké Ball object will also be available for purchase.

The Game Boy Advance software Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, originally released in 2004, is coming to the Nintendo Switch!
This title is a remake of the first games in the series, Pokémon Red and Green.
While preserving the original excitement and the charm of the Pokémon, the graphics have evolved into full color, and the Sevii Islands maps have been newly added.
In the Nintendo Switch version, Pokémon trading and battles are possible via local communication without the need for a Wireless Adapter.
You can enjoy a new adventure with Pokémon along with nostalgic memories of the original release.
Download Cards and Special Edition Also to Be Released!
This software will be sold as a download version only and will be playable after the Pokémon Presents broadcast scheduled for Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 PM.
The price is 19.99 USD each.
Download cards featuring a download code will also be released sequentially starting February 27, 2026.
Furthermore, a deluxe Special Edition featuring a glass Poké Ball object and packaging that reproduces the design from the time of the original release has also been confirmed for sale in Japan.
It will be released exclusively at Pokémon Center Online starting February 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM JST (Feruary 27, 2026, at 5:00 PM PST).

Game music from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen is now available on Nintendo Music, the smartphone app for Nintendo Switch Online members!
