ROG Strix 5K XG27JCG Creates a New Normal

ASUS: Beyond Vision
Saiga NAK

At the ASUS: Beyond Vision — Beyond 4K: 5K Gaming Monitor & Latest OLED Hands-on Event held in Tokyo, the highlight among the multiple latest monitor models on display was indeed the 5K gaming monitor ROG Strix 5K XG27JCG.

ROG Strix 5K XG27JCG

The ROG Strix 5K XG27JCG is a gaming monitor that adopts a 27-inch Fast IPS panel.

高解像度モード高リフレッシュレートモード
Saiga NAK

It supports a dual mode that allows you to freely switch between a high resolution of 5K (5,120×2,880) / 180Hz and a high refresh rate of WQHD (2,560×1,440) / 330Hz.

Button on the back right
Saiga NAK

The dual mode can be switched from the display's On-Screen Display (OSD) menu, and can also be set with a single press of a customization button.
While this feature is becoming standard in recent high-end monitors, it is a blessing for gamers who play various genres.

The OSD response is also very brisk (important)
Saiga NAK

The ROG Strix 5K XG27JCG adopts a 27-inch display, but the screen size can be changed from the monitor side.
Although there are some slightly awkward Japanese translation, when you select the 24.5-inch simulation...

27 inches becomes 24.5 inches
Saiga NAK

The display area became one size smaller!
This is a device where you can easily switch between playing action games on a large, high-resolution screen and focusing on shooters at 24.5 inches with a high refresh rate just by using the monitor settings.

The stand is slim
Saiga NAK

The included stand for the ROG Strix 5K XG27JCG has a slim base and hardly becomes an obstacle on the desk.
I touched it thoroughly, and the strength seems to be no problem at all.

The unit weighs 4.8kg (6.9kg including the stand), which holds its own even when compared to high-end models from other companies.
Since it is 5K, I was somewhat braced for it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Cameras, microphones, and lighting equipment can be installed on the 1/4-inch tripod socket
Saiga NAK

It supports swiveling from 40 degrees to minus 40 degrees, tilting from 20 degrees to minus 5 degrees, and pivoting from 90 degrees to minus 90 degrees.

Comes with a wiring cover
Saiga NAK

The ports are USB-C, DisplayPort 1.4, and HDMI 2.1 (×2).
It also comes with a cover that can neatly organize cables at the back of the monitor, which tends to get cluttered.

The ROG Strix 5K XG27JCG is scheduled for release in Japan around late March 2026.

ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen3 With Black Levels Improved by Up to 40%

No reflection even when shooting with a flash
Saiga NAK

The ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen3 (ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM3) is a third-generation gaming monitor that inherits the concept of the popular model ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM.
While keeping the features of a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED panel and a high refresh rate of up to 240Hz, optimization of peak brightness and color expression was achieved by adopting a new-generation OLED panel and the latest BlackShield film.

The BlackShield film corrects the purplish tint characteristic of QD-OLED panels, and according to ASUS, it improves the black level by up to 40% within the recognizable range.
Furthermore, with scratch resistance improved by 2.5 times, it is undoubtedly a film that will lead the next generation.

The ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM Gen3 is scheduled for release around April 2026.

ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG Equipped With Tandem OLED Technology

Also shot with a flash in the same way
Saiga NAK

The ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG is the latest gaming monitor equipped with Tandem OLED technology.
It offers several benefits: monitor brightness is improved by 15%, the color gamut is expanded by 25%, and the lifespan is improved by 60%.
The surface treatment adopts ROG TrueBlack Glossy, which also contributes to reducing reflections and improving the expressive power of black.

Additionally, it is equipped with a subtly appreciated feature where a proximity sensor detects the user leaving their seat and automatically transitions to a black screen to reduce burn-in risk.

The ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG is scheduled for release around late April 2026.

ProArt Display PA248QV Gen2 for Professional Creators

ProArt Display PA248QV Gen2
Saiga NAK

The last product to be introduced is ProArt Display PA248QV Gen2 (ProArt Display PA248QFV).
It is a product for creators rather than a gaming monitor.

It is a 24.1-inch WUXGA (1,920×1,200) monitor, and because it is vertically longer compared to general FHD (1,920×1,080), work efficiency is increased.
During video editing, you can check the timeline while previewing at the native resolution.

Preset P3 for Mac users
Saiga NAK

What caught my attention during the explanation was the P3 preset.
This is a preset tuned for macOS, and you can see from this point as well that it is designed with creators in mind.

Furthermore, although it is for creators, the maximum refresh rate is 100Hz, as it is better to have it than not.

The ProArt Display PA248QV Gen2 is scheduled for release around April 2026.
