Background

The construction industry in Japan is facing a serious shortage of skilled workers; the number of skilled workers is projected to fall from approximately 3.3 million in 2019 to less than 2 million by 2025. Strict limits on overtime work, known as the 2024 problem, are also looming, requiring companies to improve productivity while ensuring safety.

TDBC aims to implement tele-operation technology in society to create new jobs in the construction industry regardless of gender or age. As part of this effort, this competition will have a great impact by remotely operating construction equipment at a job site 50 km away from the venue in Roppongi, as if it were a game. Remote control technology is expected to be useful in disaster relief and recovery efforts because of its advantage of being able to be operated from a safe location, and the aim of the competition is to attract the interest of as many people as possible.

The "e-Construction Equipment Challenge 2024" aims to provide a good opportunity for people to understand the solutions to these issues and to create new workers.
