Nintendo released Update Ver. 1.8.0 for the Nintendo Switch 2 title, Mario Kart World.
The update introduces course additions from Super Mario Kart, new Knockout Tour routes, and a brand-new Spectator Mode.
Free Update for Mario Kart World Available Now! 10 Courses Added Including Choco Island, Vanilla Lake, and Ghost Valley
Classic courses from the original Super Mario Kart have arrived in Mario Kart World!
You can now race on them across VS Race, Time Trials, and Online Play.
The added courses are as follows:
- SNES Mario Circuit 1
- SNES Mario Circuit 2
- SNES Mario Circuit 3
- SNES Ghost Valley 1
- SNES Ghost Valley 2
- SNES Ghost Valley 3
- SNES Choco Island 1
- SNES Choco Island 2
- SNES Vanilla Lake 1
- SNES Koopa Beach 1
On these courses, just like in Super Mario Kart, you can obtain items by driving over Item Panels.
New Propeller Rally and Turnip Rally Routes Arrive in Knockout Tour
Nintendo added two new routes, Propeller Rally and Turnip Rally, to Knockout Tour.
These new routes become selectable after clearing at least one Knockout Tour Rally.
The Propeller Rally connects Acorn Heights to the Airship Fortress.
The Turnip Rally is a route connecting DK Pass to Shy Guy Bazaar.
Nintendo plans to introduce additional Knockout Tour routes sequentially in future updates.
Spectator Mode Added to Watch Races and Battles Without Participating
A new Spectator Mode is now available during group play in Online Play and LAN Play.
While spectating, you can switch between player viewpoints and check real-time updated race standings at any time.
The update also expands group lobby capacity to a maximum of 26 players.
This allows setups such as two spectators watching a 24-player race unfold.
New Filters Added to Photo Mode
When snapping photos via the Camera option in the pause menu, you can now apply new filters.
Quality-of-Life Adjustments: Item Visibility and Lap Time Displays
Update Ver. 1.8.0 also introduces adjustments such as making items like the Boomerang, Fireball, and Hammer visibly held.
Additionally, Time Trials now displays lap-by-lap split times.
