Evo2023, a three-day fighting game festival held from August 4 (Fri.) to 6 (Sun.), 2023 (local time), has successfully completed its entire program! The event was a great success, with a main tournament, side tournaments, booth exhibits, and various other events. Unlike Evo Japan, Evo is held in Las M. Bisons in the U.S., so it is very difficult for Japanese fighting gamers to participate and watch the event on site. This year's Evo2023 also featured a test play area for " Project L," a new fighting game presented by Raiatto Games. Evo2023 has come to an end, but here is a summary of newly released information on Project L!
Video Explaining the Basics of Project L
Project L is the latest fighting game from Raiatto Games, creators of "League of Legends" and "Valorant". The latest information released in July 2023 revealed that the game will be a 2 vs. 2 four-player fighting game.
Project L had a playable demo exhibit at Evo2023. In conjunction with the demo, Raiatto Games released a "How To Play Project L" video.
Attacks
- Basic attacks are weak, medium, and strong (some change with directional input)
- ↘+Strong attack launches the enemy (can be used as an aerial combo)
- S1 and S2 are special skills for champions
- ↓↓+S1 or ↓↓+S2 for Lv1 Ultimate Skill
- Lv2 Ultimate Skill with ↓↓+S1+S2
- (when enemy is in the air) ↓+Strength for anti-air attack
- ←+T or →+T for assist action
- Charge assist by holding down ←+T or →+T
- Long press T to change champions
- (when a friendly champion is in the screen) T for quick champion change
- (When launching an enemy) T to change champions and link up in the air
- (When one champion is KO'd and your teammate is low on health) ←+T or →+T for Last Stand
In addition to the weak, medium, and strong buttons found in many fighting games, Project L has S1 andS2 buttons for activating Special and Ultimate Skills, and T for assisting actions and changing champions. Although there are directional controls, there is no distinction between the use of punches and kicks, so the level of control difficulty does not appear to be high. It seems that fighting games are trying to attract new players these days.
Defense
- Normal Guard with ← or ↙.
- →+weak + medium push block to make the enemy retreat
- ←+Weak+Medium for a retreat guard that makes you retreat
- Weak+Strong to block upper and lower levels
- S1+T or S2+T for dynamic save
Normal guard by sticking behind the character. In addition, there is a push block that makes the enemy retreat and a retreat guard that retreats itself. Further still, high-risk, high-return blocking is also available! Although many commands, including blocking, use gauges, so they cannot be used frequently, this system is sure to be a hit at tournaments, as it allows players to turn the tables even in a pinch, such as when their strength gauge is low or at the edge of the screen.
Fuse
- Double Assist: Two consecutive assists can be activated.
- Double Down: Activates an additional Ultimate while a teammate's Lv1 Ultimate is in effect.
- Fury: activates at low health to increase damage and use a special dash cancel
- Freestyle: Multiple coordinated attacks can be launched during combos
The "Fuse" system is a unique system that allows players to change their fighting style by selecting a fuse before a match. Fury, in particular, is recommended for beginners because of its simple effect of strengthening the player when his or her strength is low.
Others
- This demo version was created for Evo.
- Still pad and stick only, but will support all devices in the future
- Project L" is just a tentative name, the official title will be announced at a later date.
Although it has been called "Project L" for a long time, this is only a tentative name. The official title will be announced at a later date. The button layout has also been revealed, and it is simple. The simpler the controls are, the more you can concentrate on reading each other, which makes me happy!
RIAT Games official X (@riotgames ) also revealed the booth at Evo2023. I envy those who were able to play!
Yasuo joins Project L!
Darius, Echo, and Arli were known as champions that could be used in the Project L playable demo exhibit, and now Yasuo has been announced as a new entry! An Ionian swordsman, Yasuo is a champion with the appearance of a Japanese person who speaks a language very similar to Japanese. He is very popular in the "League of Legends" and is voiced in Japanese by Tomokazu Sugita, a very popular voice actor.
Yasuo is known for using the wind generated by his quick swordsmanship for attack and defense.
The image shows Yasuo's very technical fighting style, including his signature aerial combos and defense with the "Wall of Wind Slay".
The characteristics of Darius, Echo, and Arli are also explained in the video! For the latest information, check out the official Project L website!
