In September 2023, a new page in Japanese Wi-Fi history will be written. The Deco BE85 is TP-Link's first 12-stream tri-band mesh Wi-Fi 7 router. The Deco BE85 is TP-Link's first 12-stream, tri-band mesh Wi-Fi 7 router, and is equipped with new technologies such as 4096-QAM and MLO to deliver ultra-high-speed performance that defies conventional wisdom.

Wi-Fi 7 (IEEE 802.11be) is the successor to WiFi 6 and 6E, and the new Deco BE85 supports speeds of 11520 Mbps (6 GHz), 8640 Mbps (5 GHz), and 1376 Mbps (2.4 GHz). One of the factors that made these speeds possible is that the maximum bandwidth in Wi-Fi 6 was 160 MHz, whereas in Wi-Fi 7 it has been doubled to 320 MHz. The wider road has made it easier to achieve higher speeds.

However, as of writing, 320MHz and 240MHz are not available due to Japanese domestic laws and regulations. When not supported, the speeds are 5760Mbps (6GHz), 5760Mbps (5GHz) + 1376Mbps (2.4GHz).

However, that's not the only thing that makes the Deco BE85 so amazing. It is equipped with 4096-QAM, which exceeds Wi-Fi 6's 1024-QAM, theoretically increasing transmission speed by 20%.

In addition, the new MLO (multi-link operation) feature enables data to be sent and received simultaneously on multiple bands and channels. In other words, it is possible to connect to all of 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz simultaneously to increase transmission speed. Simultaneous use of bands that everyone has thought about at least once has finally been realized! You can read more about MLO on the official TP-Link blog.
