Event

Rainbow Six Siege ( R6S), a very popular FPS title developed by Ubisoft, is still being played by many enthusiastic players in 2022, seven years after its release.
With its unique map-destroying features and unique characters (operators), R6S is one of the most popular FPS titles in the e-sports scene.
The " X-Moment Rainbow Six Japan League 2022 (RJL2022)" Season 1 Playoff Stage 2 will be held on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Shinjuku Sumitomo Building, Shinjuku, Tokyo. The event was held at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangular Plaza over two days on June 4 and 5, 2022!
We, the editorial staff of Saiga NAK, were there to experience the atmosphere of an offline tournament for the first time in a long time, and we will report back to you what happened at the venue!

We were excited to see an offline tournament for the first time in a long time!

The venue for the "RJL2022" Season 1 Playoff Stage 2 was the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangular Plaza, which was equipped with a 4K 564-inch super-large screen.
The glass ceiling allows natural light to stream in, creating a sense of openness even though the venue is indoors!
Air conditioning is also provided to adjust the temperature to a comfortable level throughout the day.
The tournament is scheduled to run from morning to night on both days, but the atmosphere of the venue changes dramatically during that time.
The final match will be held in a darkened venue with exciting lighting effects!

The contestants for the "RJL2022" Season 1 Playoff Stage 2 are...

Eight teams!
The most notable teams are " CYCLOPS athlete gaming OSAKA ( CAG)" and " KAWASAKI SCARZ ( SZ)", who are ranked No. 1 as of June 3, 2022 (Friday).
IGZIST " and " REJECT " are also two teams with great momentum after winning the Season 1 Playoff Stage 1.

Caster is Frieda (@frieda0914), Tomozo (@tom85y), CrazyPapiyoN (@CrazyPapiyooooN), Okayama (@TDokayama), reporter is Mika Nonomiya (@nonomiyamika), and Yunocy (@mizuyuno_ ) served as the reporter and made the event more exciting.
yunocy commented, "It's been a while since I've been to an offline event, so I'm a bit nervous, but I'm looking forward to having fun with everyone! " he commented.
During the interval of the games, the casters and reporters interacted with the fans who came to the venue, and I was deeply moved by the thought that this was an offline tournament.

The winning team will have their name engraved on a trophy made in the shape of MONTAGNE's Le Lock Shield.
Mika Nonomiya was very excited to see this trophy, which was about 150 cm long, saying, "It's so powerful! Mika Nonomiya was very excited.

The "X-Moment" pose brought the audience together.

The popular " Sparklers" jacket was also on sale at a limited price at the offline venue!
The reversible design with sparkle embroidery on the front and crow embroidery on the back was very cool!

Although it was too popular for us to cover, there was also an RJL team sales corner.
The following teams were represented: "IGZIST", "FAV Gaming", "FNATIC", "REJECT", "Sengoku Gaming", "Crest Gaming Lst&quot ;-), "DONUTS USG", and "KAWASAKI SCARZ"!
Some fans were even getting autographs from the players on the goods they bought here, which made me jealous!

A quick snap at the photo spot

I was sadly alone at the photo spot set up next to the merchandise corner.
This is the kind of place where you can take pictures with your Cage buddies and where players are interviewed....

Day 1, Match 4: "CAG" vs "RC

"CAG" and "RC" to advance the setting.
Saiga NAK

The most watched match of Day 1 was the fourth match featuring the No. 1 ranked team, "CAG".
All four players except for "CAG" BlackRay had just returned to Japan after 4:00 p.m. on the day of the match.
It was an unprecedentedly hard schedule for them to play an offline match in less than 4 hours after a 14-hour flight.
It is a relief to see "CAG" at the offline venue first, although his participation was in doubt at one point!

The voltage of the venue is at its maximum!

Anitun's ACE!

CAG" has just returned to Japan and is still in a state of adjustment, but in the pre-match survey, he received a whopping 85% of the votes to win the tournament.
Anitun, who has just returned from Japan and is still under adjustment, won the pre-match survey with 85% of the votes.

CAG" had won 3 rounds since the start of the first map, but with this big play, he won the next round.
REJECT" was also within striking distance, but could not get any closer, and it was "CAG" who took the first two maps and won the match!

Victory Interview

CAG players in the winning team
Saiga NAK

- I know you were not in perfect condition for the match.

SuzuC: I knew REJECT had a boot camp, so I knew it would not be easy to win. I was tired, but I was enjoying the game for the first time in a long time, and the result came to me!

- You said on Twitter that you hadn't played R6S in two weeks.

gatorada: I haven't played Siege for a long time, but it was a nice change of pace and I was able to enjoy the game again.

- What would you like to eat now?

Ayagator: Soba noodles and sushi!

- How was it playing with members you haven't played with in a while?

BlackRay: Everyone had more kills than I expected. We always come back to form after one or two matches, so I think we will be fine tomorrow.

- Finally, what are your plans for tomorrow?

Anitun: I think we are not good at this type of game tomorrow, so we will be careful.

Day 2 Final match "CAG" vs "SZ

The two teams that advanced to the finals on the second day were "CAG" and "SZ".
SZ" in particular won the tournament in straight games without losing a single map.

The battle to determine the Season 1 champion is about to begin, watched by even more fans than on Day 1!

CAG" won the first round, but "SZ" was not to be outdone.
The seesaw game continued with no difference in the two rounds, and in round 7, both players had won three rounds.
LuA of "SZ" held out until the very end of the time limit, and despite being outnumbered 1 to 4, he took down one opponent with a shotgun and then used a melee attack during smoke to take out Ayagator, who was setting up his diffuser!
With less than one second left to set up the diffuser, his split-second decision-making skills shone through!

The crowd erupted in cheers!

First, "CAG" takes the first map!

The winner of the closely contested Map 1 was "CAG"!

Map 2 was won by "SZ" by a margin of up to 3 rounds!
The decider will now go to the Villa on Map 3!

Taiyou's ACE!

Taiyou " SZ" has been on fire with his ACE from the very first round of Map 3!
SZ" has completely seized the momentum, and has now won 5 rounds in a row, putting the pressure on "CAG".

SZ" kept up the momentum and eventually won the match by a huge margin of 6 rounds!
SZ was crowned the champion of the RJL2022 Season 1 Playoff Stage 2!

Each player and coach of "SZ" will have their name engraved on a trophy made in the shape of MONTAGNE's Le Lock Shield.
This trophy will also be used in Season 2 and Season 3, so that the history and excitement of "RJL2022" will finally be available for all to look back on.

Interview with the winner

Pyon celebrates his victory
Saiga NAK
Q. How do you feel now?

Pyon: The era of CAG is over. Winning both BO1 during the season and BO3 in this tournament means that!

Q. How did Taiyou feel when he won the ACE?

Taiyou : I don't remember anything at that time because I didn't have much time. When I came to my senses, I had defeated all of them (laughs).

Q. Wqsyo1's aggressive moves with VALKYRIE were remarkable.

Wqsyo1: Normally I don't use VALKYRIE because I ban it, but I target-banned my CAG opponent, and as a result, VALKYRIE became available. My best operator is VALKYRIE, so I think I was able to play it the way I wanted to play it.

Q. Tell us about your super play in Oregon.

LuA : I was holding the front and my teammate got hit in the back, and from the line of fire and the surrounding conditions, I judged that it was a smoke installation, so I took action.

Q. ReC, you achieved good results in your first game after moving to the new team, didn't you?

ReC: Of course (laughs). I didn't do much in the finals and was only saved, so I'm going to try to save the team in Season 2!

I'm reminded how great offline tournaments are!

Yunocy, who had never been to an R6S event before, said, "It was a lot of fun to feel the tension of the matches up close and feel everyone's love for Siege! Thank you so much! "Thank you so much!" he commented with a smile.
Mika Nonomiya, whose eyes were welling up even before she took the stage, expressed her gratitude with tears in her eyes, saying, "I really love R6S, and I've been watching RJL as a viewer for the last year.

The tournament was held on June 4 (Sat.) and 5 (Sun.), 2022, at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangular Plaza, and SS and S seats were sold out on both days!
The excitement when a super play was performed reminded us of the e-sports scene of the past.

Closing with "X-Moment" pose!
Saiga NAK

Little by little, the restrictions have been lifted and signs of offline events are beginning to emerge in 2022.
