"Wakayama Prefectural High School eSports Championship 2026" to Be Held!
Wakayama Prefecture is moving forward with the eSports Wakayama Promotion Project, an initiative aimed at establishing a new local culture and revitalizing the region. By expanding the eSports population—which enjoys strong support from the younger generation—the project provides a platform for community interaction.
Previously, the Wakayama Prefectural High School eSports Championship 2025 took place on Saturday, January 25, and Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Following that success, it has been decided that the second tournament, the "Wakayama Prefectural High School eSports Championship 2026", will be held!
Nankai Electric Railway Co., Ltd. and e-stadium Co., Ltd. are handling the planning and production. Group matches will be held online on Saturday, January 31, 2026, while the final tournament will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at e-stadium Satellite Studio Wakayama.
League of Legends returns as the competition title this year.
The tournament will accommodate a maximum of 16 teams with up to 96 total participants (five players plus one reserve per team). It is a requirement that all team members be enrolled in a high school within Wakayama Prefecture.
Last year’s championship was a major success, featuring live broadcasts by eyes (@eyes1015) and Lillebelt (@Lillebelt_lol), both of whom provide professional play-by-play commentary.
High school students in Wakayama Prefecture are encouraged to gather their friends and aim to become the top team in the prefecture!
The tournament overview and application forms are available on the Wakayama Prefecture Official Website.
