PlayStation 5 " (PS5) has become much more affordable as we enter the year 2023. In particular, titles with PS5 versions and PS5 exclusives will be very immersive, partly because they will be able to fully exploit the PS5's machine power. In addition, PlayStation VR2 will be released in February 2023, and there are countless big titles scheduled for release on PS5 and PS4, so there really isn't enough time for all of us! PlayStation is focusing on making games accessible to everyone by announcing "Project Leonardo," an accessibility controller kit for PS5 in January 2023. One of these measures is the addition of an " accessibility tag " to the PlayStation Store!

Check out the visual, audio, and other configurable items.

Newly added to the PlayStation Store, "Accessibility Tags" will allow game developers to tag PS5 and PS4 titles available on the PS5 PlayStation Store. Titles that use the "Accessibility Tag" will be listed in the game hub of the PlayStation Store with a list of the accessibility features that the game supports by pressing the △ button. The items displayed can be tagged in 6 categories and from over 50 tags...

  • Visual: Legible text, large letters, color alternatives, voice hint alternatives, sound direction indication, etc.
  • Audio: volume control, mono audio, voice reading, alternative visual cues, etc.
  • Subtitles and captions: subtitle size, legible captions, large captions, etc.
  • Controls: change button assignments, adjust stick sensitivity, long-press/consecutive presses, disable motion controls, etc.
  • Gameplay: adjust difficulty, skip puzzles, simplify quick-time events, adjust game speed, etc.
  • Online communication: Text chat reading, voice chat character conversion, marking locations with pins, etc.

... and it would not be an exaggeration to say that you can check almost all the areas you want to check before purchasing the game. For titles that are offered in both PS5 and PS4 versions, you can also check the accessibility supported by each version from the drop-down menu. The "Accessibility Tags" will be available over time, but at the time of availability...

Even if the same game is played in the same environment, each person's body and senses will see and feel the game in a completely different way. I, too, find it difficult to see a dark screen, so I set the contrast a little brighter, but if I know which settings I can make before purchasing a game, I will be able to buy titles I might have hesitated to buy in the past with peace of mind. The day is surely not far off when everyone will be able to enjoy all games! For more information, please visit PlayStation.Blog!
