SIE Officially Announces End of Service for New PS3, PS Vita and PSP Content Purchases

Tokyo, Japan, February 12, 2012 - Sony Interactive Entertainment (SCEI), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. responsible for business operations in Japan, today announced the end of new content purchase service on PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation Vita (PS Vita), and PlayStation Portable (PSP). The company announced the termination of the service for PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) and PlayStation Portable (PSP).


Purchased content will continue to be available.

New content purchases from PlayStation Store will end on July 2, 2021 (Fri.) for PS3 and August 27, 2021 (Fri.) for PS Vita.
In conjunction with this, the service that allows users to transfer content purchased on PS3, PS Vita, PC, and mobile devices to PSP will also end on July 2, 2021 (Friday).


After the end of the purchase function service, users will still be able to re-download purchased game titles, access purchased video and media content, redeem game and PS Plus code numbers, and re-download and play game titles obtained through PS Plus (if the PS Plus subscription is continued). continue to be available.
However, new purchases of PS3, PS Vita, and PSP digital content, including games and video content, as well as DLC and other in-game purchases will no longer be available, so be sure to purchase what you need before the service ends.


Also, once the service ends, you will no longer be able to charge your wallet using PlayStation Store cards/tickets.
Wallet balances will remain in your PSN account, but will only be able to be used to purchase PS4 and PS5 related products.


Sony Interactive Entertainment has sent an email to members stating.
"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers, but after careful consideration, we have decided to focus our PlayStation Store business on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 to further improve the user experience.
