The Tokyo Game Show is one of the world's three largest game shows, and every year it is a "festival" that is filled with a variety of new information and events. The Tokyo Game Show has had to be scaled back and held online in light of the current situation, but last year's Tokyo Game Show 2022 was a hybrid of online and offline events. The editorial staff of Saiga NAK was also excited to cover the entire event offline, and we published a total of 75 articles related to Tokyo Game Show 2022. It seems like only a few days ago, but the time has come! Tokyo Game Show 2023 ( TGS 2023) has been announced!
TGS2023 Announcement
TGS2023 PresentationThe TGS2023 presentation was held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. As already announced, TGS2023 will be held over four days from Thursday, September 21 to Sunday, September 24, 2023! Thursday, September 21 and Friday, September 22 will be Business Days, and Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24 will be General Public Days.
Tokyo Game Show 2022 Achievements
Tokyo Game Show 2022, the first time in three years that a real venue for the general public was set up, attracted 44,117 visitors on Business Day and94,075 visitors on General Public Days. According to the visitor questionnaire, more than 80% of both domestic and international visitors were satisfied with the show, which could be called a great success despite the impact of the new coronavirus infection.
The theme was "Games move, the world changes."
Moves, World ChangesThe world has been facing headwinds for the past several years. Yet, the breakthrough of games has not stopped. New technologies have blossomed out of games. New industries were born one after another in partnership with games. The excitement of new things brought a bright future to our daily lives. Games have the power to lead the world. It has the strength to change someone's life. I am sure you have often felt this way. That is why we need to do more of what only games can do. Let games lead the world. Let games be the tailwind of global growth. When games move, the world begins to change. In 2023, the Tokyo Game Show will return with even more power. We hope to share the first step in changing the world with many people in Japan and abroad who love games.
For the first time in 4 years, the entire Makuhari Messe will be used!
seTGS2023 will be held on a large scale, using the entire Makuhari Messe! We can't stop excited about the fact that it will be the first time in 4 years since 2019 that the entire building will be used...!
While the main focus will be on real venues, online venues and TGS VR will also be expanded.
The estimated number of visitors is 200,000! And the cosplay area is back!
Last year's TGS2022 saw the return of a real venue for the general public, but ticket sales and the number of visitors were limited. For TGS2023, however, those restrictions have been eased! By drastically easing ticket sales limits and eliminating admission restrictions, they are expecting 200,000 visitors over the four days!
In addition, the return of the cosplay area for the first time in four years was also announced! It seems that "those days" are gradually returning, and I am deeply moved...
Renewed "Game Academy Corner
Game Academy CornerThe "Game School Corner" has been renamed the "Game Academy Corner," making it easier for graduate school laboratories and research facilities to exhibit!
New "Gaming Hardware Corner
A new "Gaming Hardware Corner" will be set up to provide a wide range of hardware and gaming devices to PC game users! A decade ago, it was said that PC games would never catch on in Japan, but the PC gaming market in Japan has expanded to such an extent that such predictions have been blown out of the water. As a user of gaming hardware, I am very happy to see the concentration of related manufacturers in the Gaming Hardware Corner.
New "Gaming Lifestyle Corner
Lifestyle CornerMore and more companies are entering the gaming furniture market, with gaming chairs at the forefront. The number of furniture manufacturers exhibiting at TGS has been increasing recently, which is why a new "Gaming Lifestyle Corner" has been set up. Visitors can actually experience gaming chairs and gaming desks at the real venue, so it will be great to be able to walk around the booths and compare them quickly.
New "Creator Lounge"
TGS2023 plans to actively invite influential creators and influencers with the aim of increasing information dissemination. To this end, a new "Creator Lounge" will be set up as a base for visitors to play live games and edit videos. In addition, there will be a sponsorship plan for creator management companies and companies that provide products and services for creators, which will be a great opportunity for fans.
