The Tokyo Game Show 2026 (hereinafter referred to as TGS2026) has issued a statement regarding the event.
Due to the approach of Typhoon No. 25, the organizers announced the cancellation of Day 5 of TGS2026, scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2026 (a national holiday).
Day 5 of TGS2026 Canceled
The Tokyo Game Show is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
TGS2026, marking this milestone, opened on Thursday, September 17, 2026, as the first-ever five-day event.
However, shortly after the opening, Typhoon No. 25 formed off the coast of the Pacific Ocean.
Forecasts indicated that it would come closest to the Kanto region on Sunday, September 20, and Monday, September 21, 2026 (a public holiday).
The Tokyo Game Show Secretariat continued deliberations but issued a statement around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
It was decided that the event would proceed as scheduled on Sunday, September 20, 2026, but would be canceled on Monday, September 21 (a national holiday).
It was also announced that tickets for Monday, September 21 (a national holiday) will be refunded, and organizers are considering live-streaming the stage events that were originally scheduled to take place.
