Epic Games has announced that " Fortnite: Save the World, " the PvE-style cooperative campaign mode that started Fortnite, will be free-to-play starting Thursday, April 16, 2026. Pre-registration is now being accepted on the official website.

Epic Games announced that the PvE mode "Fortnite : Save the World " will become free-to-play on April 16, 2026 (Thursday). Pre-registration is now open for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Cloud, and Nintendo Switch 2. Register early to receive in-game rewards, including a "Save the World" hero at launch!
Rewards will be distributed to existing players and new purchases will be temporarily suspended.
As a thank you to existing players who have saved the world over the past nine years, we will be giving away Superchargers, vouchers and gold on Thursday, April 16, 2026 (US time). In addition, founders who have already purchased the paid version will continue to earn V-Bucks through the following missions
- Daily Quests
- Mission Alerts
- Storm Shield Defense Missions
- Existing Challenges
In preparation for the free version, new purchases of "Save the World" will be temporarily suspended on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. (Japan time).
