LJL", the 2025 national e-sports competition scene of the popular PC online game "League of Legends", has announced the outline and rebranding of the "LJL". The LJL will be held in 2025 in the domestic e-sports scene.
In addition, Playbrain will host and operate this tournament as a Japanese regional league belonging to the LoL Esports ecosystem hosted and operated by Raiatto Games, as the host partner from 2025.
LJL to be reborn in 2025
In 2025, the LoL Esports ecosystem will undergo a transformation with the establishment of a new regional league, the "League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP)," which will span multiple regions in the Asia-Pacific region. With this change, the LJL will be reborn as a domestic league to discover and nurture the next generation of players in the Asia-Pacific region and to produce the Japanese national team to challenge the LCP.
The LJL will be transformed into an open tournament with a new tournament format, and a new LJL will be created to allow players with new personalities to compete. The new LJL will welcome not only new aspiring professional players, but also their seniors. Let's be enthusiastic about the new battles between old and new stars.
Major tournament format changes have been implemented!
In order to open new doors for the rapidly expanding and growing LoL community in Japan, it was announced that the domestic league LJL will also undergo major changes to its format, including the introduction of an open qualifying system and a new tournament format. This change is intended to improve the league's overall player base and community cooperation by making the format more welcoming to aspiring players, with a view to the medium- to long-term development of the LJL.
New logo and branding!
Along with the major renewal of the LJL, the logo and branding have also been updated! The new "LJL" logo has been redesigned to symbolize the new era of the LJL, featuring a nexus motif, which is the symbol of the previous logo and games! The slogan for 2025, "REFORGE AS ONE," is a reflection of the LJL's intention to become the leading league in the e-sports scene by maximizing the experience and knowledge it has accumulated to date, as well as its desire to imagine a scene where the management, players, fans, and community come together to build a league. This is the wish of the league's management, players, fans, and community.
In addition to the annual tournaments, a new tournament system has been introduced!
The LJL 2025 season will consist of three tournaments, "LJL FORGE," "LJL STORM," and "LJL IGNITE," each in a different format, and the final "LJL FINALS TOURNAMENT and the final "LJL FINALS TOURNAMENT".
Tournaments and schedule
- "LJL FORGE" (mid-January to early March)
- "LJL STORM" (mid-March to early May)
- "LJL IGNITE" (mid-May to mid-June)
- "LJL FINALS TOURNAMENT" (end of July to end of August)
The winning team of LJL 2025 will be eligible to participate in the LCP Promotion/Relegation Tournament.
Championship Point System
A new championship point system will be introduced for the LJL 2025 season. Teams will earn championship points based on their ranking in each regular tournament, and the top six teams in the point standings at the end of each of the three regular tournaments will qualify for the final tournament.
Introduction of the "Open Qualifying System
Starting with the 2025 season, the "Open Qualifying System" will allow any team that meets the entry requirements to participate in the LJL! The top ranked teams in the Open Qualifier, which is open to up to 64 teams, will be able to qualify for the main stage!
Information on the call for teams to participate in LJL 2025 will be released around the end of November!
For the LJL 2025 season, which introduces the Open Qualifier system, teams from the public will be invited to participate in the tournament. The conditions for teams to participate and how to apply will be announced around the end of November, so please be patient!
