Nintendo has begun rolling out system version 23.0.0 for the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
This update includes improvements to the usability of "Game Chat," new features for " Nintendo Parental Controls," and the ability to scan Mii QR codes, among other updates.
Nintendo Switch 2 / Nintendo Switch System Version Updated to 23.0.0! New Features Added
This update improves the usability of “Game Chat” and adds new features to the parental control app “Nintendo Parental Controls” as well as to the Mii creation and editing tools.
The new features are available on systems running version 23.0.0 or later.
Chats you’ve previously joined now appear in Game Chat
On the Nintendo Switch 2, the usability of “Game Chat” —which lets you enjoy voice chat and screen sharing with friends—has been improved.
The screen for selecting which Game Chat to join has been redesigned to display chats you’ve participated in before.
You can start chatting with the same members right away.
Try Game Chat on your own
When starting a new Game Chat, you can now join without selecting any friends.
This is convenient for testing Game Chat features or checking how it works.
Easily switch screen sizes
A button to change the “Screen Size ” has been added to the menu that opens with the C Button during Game Chat.
You can easily adjust the display size of the game screen while in a chat.
"Co-Parenting" Feature Added to "Nintendo Parental Controls"
The “Co-Parenting” feature has been added to “Nintendo Parental Controls for Switch,” allowing two parents to jointly monitor the Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch used by their child.
By inviting another parent through “Nintendo Parental Controls for Switch,” two parents can use the feature together.
Ability to Scan QR Codes When Creating or Editing Miis
By connecting a separately sold USB camera, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera, to the Nintendo Switch 2 console, you can now scan Mii QR codes.
You can scan not only QR codes for Miis created on the Nintendo Switch 2, but also those created on the Nintendo 3DS or Wii U.
You can also feature Miis you created in the past in games that support Miis, such as “Mii Friends Collection: Exciting Life” and “Nintendo Switch Sports Resort.”
QR codes created on the Nintendo Switch 2 can be saved to the system’s album and uploaded to your smartphone to share with friends.
You can play background music while editing your Mii
You can now play background music on the Mii editing screen.
You can choose from three types of background music: the Wii Mii Channel, the Nintendo 3DS Mii Studio, and the Wii U Mii Studio.
