A new sanctuary for gamers is about to be born. Qidiya Investment Company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has announced the launch of the world's first " Gaming & eSports District. The project is a massive undertaking, with an expected capacity of 73,000 people on an expansive site more than 10 times the size of the Tokyo Dome.





Saudi Arabia's new gaming and e-sports mecca

In recent years, Saudi Arabia has been planning cities where people can enjoy entertainment, sports, and other activities in order to become less dependent on petroleum. One such gigaproject is "Qidiya. Under the auspices of the Saudi Vision 2030, a national initiative, "Qidiya City" will include a motor sports speedway, a golf course, a water theme park, a multipurpose stadium, and various other facilities. One of these facilities is the "Gaming & eSports District" announced this time.

World-class e-sports venue with 5,300 seats

The "Gaming & eSports District" will feature four dedicated eSports venues and surrounding facilities, including a 5,300-seat eSports venue. The maximum capacity for a large-scale e-sports event can be as high as 73,000 people. The facility will be able to host e-sports teams from around the world not only during events but also throughout the year, providing an environment where up to 25 teams can live, train, and compete. It also aims to attract the regional headquarters of more than 30 companies representing gaming and e-sports to create jobs and promote investment in technology.

The entire district is over 500,000 square meters in size, of which over 100,000 square meters of restaurants, retail, and entertainment space form the area.
