Apple announced that it will release the " iPad mini (A20 Pro) "—featuring an OLED display — on Friday, November 6, 2026.
Pre-orders will begin on Thursday, October 29, 2026, on the official Apple website and via the Apple Store app.
"iPad mini (A20 Pro)" Announced! The First iPad to Be Water- and Dust-Resistant
The "iPad mini (A20 Pro)" features an 8.5-inch OLED display and the "A20 Pro" chip in a body just 5.4 mm thick.
It is 14% thinner and 13% lighter than the previous-generation iPad mini, with a body that is 0.24 mm thinner than the iPhone Air.
It weighs 255g (Wi-Fi model), which is almost the same as the "iPhone Duo" at 254g.
It is the first iPad to feature IP67-rated water and dust resistance.
You can use it outdoors on rainy days or by the pool.
The display is now an OLED and has been enlarged to 8.5 inches
With bezels 24% thinner, the screen has been expanded to 8.5 inches while maintaining the same footprint as the previous generation.
The newly adopted “Super Retina XDR Display” uses OLED technology to control brightness on a per-pixel basis, delivering deep blacks.
Peak brightness is 1,200 nits —more than double that of the previous generation—with a full-screen brightness of 600 nits for SDR and HDR content and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1.
The minimum brightness can be lowered to 1 nit, making the display easy on the eyes even in dark environments, such as when reading in bed at night.
For the 256GB and 512GB models, Nano-texture display glass is also available as an option.
By scattering ambient light rather than reflecting it, this glass reduces glare, making the screen easier to view outdoors or while on the go.
Please note that it does not support the ProMotion technology found on the iPad Pro.
Graphics performance up to 2.7 times faster with the "A20 Pro"
The chip features the " A20 Pro," manufactured using Apple’s latest 2-nanometer process.
The CPU’s multithreaded performance is up to 60% faster than the previous model, allowing you to quickly edit photos and multitask across multiple apps.
Graphics performance is boosted by up to 2.7 times thanks to the latest architectural features, including Dynamic Caching, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and ray tracing.
It also excels at gaming and 3D rendering.
Battery life lasts up to 10 hours when browsing the web via Wi-Fi or watching videos.
It supports fast charging; using a USB-C power adapter of 35W or higher (sold separately), you can charge the device up to 50% in about 30 minutes.
Features an “Acoustic Display” and a side-mounted front camera
" Acoustic Display " is a new audio system that enhances sound during gameplay, video viewing, and content editing.
A specially designed woofer works in tandem with the display to produce more powerful bass and higher volume.
A custom tweeter is housed between the glass and aluminum chassis, ensuring clear high frequencies.
Dual microphones on the front and back capture natural-sounding audio.
The 12MP Center Frame camera is now positioned along the edge of the device’s long side, making FaceTime calls and video conferences in landscape orientation feel more natural.
The 12MP wide-angle rear camera supports Smart HDR 4 and 4K video recording at up to 60 fps, and the addition of Adaptive True Tone Flash ensures that scanned documents look even better.
Faster Connectivity with the “N1” and “C2” Chips
Equipped with the Apple-designed “N1” wireless network chip, it supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread.
Performance when connected to 5GHz Wi-Fi networks has improved, and the reliability of AirDrop and AirPlay has also been enhanced.
The Wi-Fi + Cellular model features the next-generation “C2” mobile modem.
Mobile data speeds are up to 50% faster than the previous generation, and power efficiency has also improved.
