PlayStation VR2 Officially Coming to Steam! Optional PC Adapter Launches August 7

The PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2), released in February 2023, significantly upgraded the VR experience with a fourfold increase in per-eye display resolution and added new features such as eye-tracking, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers—capabilities absent in the original PlayStation VR. While PSVR2 cemented its position as the only VR device compatible with PlayStation 5, its PlayStation-only limitation was a drawback. However, on June 3, 2024, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter, allowing users to connect PSVR2 to a PC and access Steam’s extensive game library.

The PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter allows PSVR2 to connect to a PC, enabling users to enjoy not only PlayStation 5 titles but also VR games from Steam.

Setup is simple: connect the PSVR2 to your PC using a DisplayPort 1.4 cable (sold separately). Then, install the PlayStation VR2 app and SteamVR from Steam, and you’re ready to play VR games on your PC.

Limitations When Using Steam

Some PSVR2 features are not supported when playing Steam VR games:

• HDR
• Headset feedback
• Eye-tracking
• Adaptive triggers
• Haptic feedback (Steam standard vibration supported)

Despite these limitations, the adapter allows PSVR2 owners to easily access PC VR content, expanding the device’s versatility beyond PlayStation 5.
