Sony has announced its flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VIII. The SIM-free model is available for pre-order starting Wednesday, May 13.
Sony's flagship smartphone "Xperia 1 VIII" is announced!
The "Xperia 1 VIII" is Sony's flagship smartphone with a 6.5-inch OLED display that supports variable refresh rates from 1 to 120Hz. It is equipped with the AI Camera Assistant, a new feature of Sony's proprietary AI technology "Xperia Intelligence. Simply point the camera at the subject and it will automatically recognize the scene and suggest the best colors, lenses, and blurring expression, allowing the user to easily take the desired photo without the need for post-processing. Adjusted settings can be registered in the Custom Look and recalled at any time.
Telephoto sensor that is 4 times larger than the previous model
The out camera is equipped with a 48-megapixel 24mm wide-angle main lens, a 48-megapixel 70mm telephoto lens, and a 48-megapixel 16mm ultra-wide-angle lens. The telephoto camera uses a 1/1.56-inch image sensor that is four times larger than that of the previous Xperia 1 VII model. All three lenses (ultra wide-angle, wide-angle, and telephoto) have the same level of darkroom shooting performance as a digital camera with Sony's full-size sensor, allowing users to take beautiful pictures in any scene without being aware of the difference in performance between the lenses.
The newly developed RAW Multi-Frame Processing improves noise reduction, resolution, and HDR performance of still images by superimposing RAW data. Noise performance in dark areas and blur depiction accuracy have also been improved. Optical focal lengths of 16mm, 24mm, 48mm, 70mm, and 140mm are supported, allowing photographers to capture distant subjects with no degradation in image quality.
The latest chipset "Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, Qualcomm's latest chipset, is used for the processor to achieve high performance and excellent efficiency. The 5,000mAh battery is claimed to last for two days, the "longest battery life" in the series' history, and Xperia's proprietary charge optimization technology ensures a long battery life that will not degrade even after four years of continuous use. It supports up to four OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates.
Advanced full-stage stereo speakers
Newly developed speaker units are mounted on the same left and right sides to reproduce deep bass and extended highs, as well as to provide an expansive and deep sound experience. Xperia Intelligence reproduces the image quality (color, contrast, and texture) of BRAVIA on the Xperia display.
New design and four color options
The design of the main body uses our proprietary " ORE Texture. The fine bumps and dips in the surface of the texture fit comfortably in the palm of the hand and provide a stable grip.
In addition to Graphite Black, Iolite Silver, and Garnet Red, the SIM-free model is available only in native gold. It supports microSDXC up to 2TB and continues to include a 3.5mm audio jack. The camera bump has also been redesigned to match the new telephoto lens.
