Lenovo's gaming brand, Legion, offers a wide range of laptops and tablets.
Lenovo released the Legion Y70 smartphone in China in May 2026.
Although it looks like a standard smartphone, it features various capabilities as a gaming model.
Here, we introduce the product's features, drawing from the presentation at the Lenovo booth during MWC Shanghai 2026, held in Shanghai in June 2026.
Lenovo Brand Gaming Smartphone
When it comes to Lenovo smartphones, Motorola, a Lenovo subsidiary, produces the models currently sold worldwide as the company's face.
Lenovo stores in China also sell Motorola smartphones.
Conversely, the company has previously sold several smartphones under the Legion gaming brand.
The Legion Y70 introduced here represents a new generation of the smartphone that first appeared in 2022.
China markets this product as the "Legion Y70新一代."
For clarity, we refer to it here as the Legion Y70 (2026).
Mid-to-High Range Model Powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
The chipset features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, and with memory configurations up to 16GB and a 1TB storage model available, it boasts specs that rival high-end ranges.
The 32-megapixel front camera sits at the top center of the screen.
The price starts from the 3,099 yuan (approx. 456 USD) for the 12GB + 256GB model.
The display size is 6.82 inches, with a high resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels and a fast maximum refresh rate of 144Hz.
In addition, the maximum brightness is 7,000 nits, ensuring the screen remains visible even when playing mobile games outdoors.
It boasts display performance equivalent to recent high-end models, including Always-On Display, Dolby Vision, and HDR 10+ support.
Tough Body Compliant with Military Standards
The body dimensions are 163.96 x 77.32 x 8.29 mm, and it weighs 224 g.
Despite being a gaming model, there are no touchpads for game control on the sides.
Furthermore, there does not appear to be a dedicated gaming mode within the OS.
Lenovo designed the hardware as a standard device, building it with high specifications for comfortable mobile gaming.
The rugged design is compliant with China's military product standard GJB 150A-2009, with IP66 + IP68 + IP69 water and dust resistance. It operates in temperatures from -20°C to 60°C and withstands drops from 1.8 meters without breaking.
Equipped with Advanced Cooling System
Lenovo significantly enhanced the internal cooling mechanism, which features an innovative cooling base layer structure, 10W high thermal conductivity grease, 12W liquid metal, and a large 5500mm² vapor chamber.
It precisely lowers the temperature with high density and controls the temperature of the entire device.
The chipset temperature drops by 7 degrees.
Compared to other gaming models, after playing a game with a 5W load for 30 minutes, the peak temperature remained at 56.1 degrees.
Other companies' models easily exceeded 60 degrees, proving that the Legion Y70 (2026) provides a stable gaming environment.
Features AI-Enabled System
The Legion Y70 (2026) comes in two color variations: White and Black.
The black model has a sand-blasted surface finish, but both feature a smooth, glass-covered body.
The OS integrates Lenovo's proprietary AI system called Tianxi AI based on Android 16.
Users can utilize it in business scenarios with functions such as automatic meeting summarization and simultaneous interpretation for multiple languages.
Additionally, it features tools useful for daily life, such as easy sending of text and images.
And, of course, it includes an AI game assistant.
Features like game pre-loading, background standby, and playing back 5 to 30-second highlights after a game finishes enhance the gaming experience.
Regarding communication, in addition to Wi-Fi performance improved by 26.1% over conventional models, the device supports a total of 4 SIMs for 5G communication, including two nano SIM cards and two eSIMs, allowing two lines to be on standby simultaneously.
You can freely switch between a SIM dedicated to data communication while playing games, all while using two phone numbers for work and private life at the same time.
The 50-megapixel wide-angle camera features a Sony LYT-710 sensor.
It features a 1/1.56-inch f/1.8 aperture and supports optical image stabilization.
The ultra-wide-angle camera is 8 megapixels, and in addition to an ultra-wide field of view of 118.6 degrees, it supports macro photography down to 2.5cm.
While there is no telephoto lens, with about 5x digital zoom, you can take photos of sufficient quality for sharing on social media.
The battery is a high-capacity 8,000 mAh.
Furthermore, it supports 90W charging, allowing for a full charge in a short time.
Continuous usage time is 9.3 hours for gaming, 61.7 hours for 5G calls, and 37 hours for video viewing.
It also supports bypass charging, allowing you to use it while sparing the battery.
It is capable of withstanding 1,200 charge cycles and 7 years of use.
The Legion Y70 (2026) is only available for sale in China at this time.
However, Legion brand PCs and tablets are available in other countries and boast a certain level of brand strength.
Beyond just the Motorola brand, I would love to see these Legion smartphones released in various countries.
