Lenovo’s gaming brand, “Legion,” offers a wide range of laptops and tablets.
In China, the “Legion Y70” smartphone was released in May 2026.
While it looks just like a standard smartphone, it’s equipped with various features as a gaming model.
In this article, we’ll introduce the product’s features, including highlights from the product presentation event held at the Lenovo booth during MWC Shanghai 2026, which took place in Shanghai in June 2026.
Lenovo’s Gaming Smartphone
When it comes to Lenovo smartphones, products from Motorola—which is now a subsidiary of Lenovo—are currently sold worldwide as the “face” of the brand.
In China, Motorola smartphones are also sold at Lenovo stores.
On the other hand, as for Lenovo-branded smartphones, several models bearing the name of the gaming brand “Legion ” have been released in the past.
The “ Legion Y70 ” we’re introducing today is a successor to a smartphone of the same name released in 2022.
For this reason, this model is marketed in China as the “Legion Y70 New Generation.”
To avoid confusion, we’ll refer to it here as the “Legion Y70 (2026).”
A mid-to-high-end model powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
It features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, with memory configurations up to 16GB andstorage options up to 1TB, boasting specs that rival those of high-end models.
The 32-megapixel front-facing camera is positioned at the top center of the screen.
Pricing starts at 3,099 yuan (approximately 74,000 yen) for the 12GB + 256GB model.
The display measures 6.82 inches with a high resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixelsand a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz.
Additionally, with a maximum brightness of 7, 000 nits, the screen remains clearly visible even when playing mobile games outdoors.
It boasts display performance on par with recent high-end models, including Always-On Display, Dolby Vision, and HDR 10+.
A Rugged Body That Meets Military Standards
The device measures 163.96 x 77.32 x 8.29 mm and weighs 224 g.
Although it’s marketed as a gaming model, it does not feature a touchpad on the side for game controls.
It also does not appear to have a dedicated gaming mode within the OS.
In terms of hardware construction, it is standard; the design is intended to allow for smooth gameplay of even demanding mobile games by enhancing each specification.
Its rugged design complies with the Chinese military product standard GJB 150A-2009; it is rated IP66, IP68, and IP69 for water and dust resistance, operates in a wide temperature range from -20°C to +60°C, and is said to remain functional even after a 1.8-meter drop.
Equipped with an Advanced Cooling System
The internal cooling mechanism has been significantly enhanced, featuring an innovative cooling base layer structure, 10W high-thermal-conductivity thermal paste, 12W liquid metal, and a large 5,500 mm² vapor chamber.
It precisely lowers temperatures at a high density, regulating the temperature of the entire device.
It is also said to be capable of lowering the chipset temperature by 7 degrees.
Compared to gaming models from other manufacturers, when playing a game for 30 minutes under a 5W load, the maximum temperature remained at 56.1 degrees.
While other manufacturers’ models easily exceeded 60 degrees, the Legion Y70 (2026) provides a stable gaming environment.
Equipped with an AI-enabled system
The Legion Y70 (2026) is available in two color options: white andblack.
While the black model features a sandblasted-like surface finish, both models have a smooth, glass-covered body.
The OS is based on Android 16 and integrates Lenovo’s proprietary AI system, called Tianxi AI.
It can be used in business settings with features such as automatic voice summarization for meetings and multilingual simultaneous interpretation.
It also includes features useful for daily life, such as easy text and image sharing.
And, of course, it comes with a built-in AI gaming assistant.
This enhances the gaming experience by preloading games, keeping them ready in the background, and playing 5- to 30-second highlight reels after a game ends.
In terms of connectivity, it features Wi-Fi performance improved by 26.1% compared to previous models. For 5G connectivity, it supports a total of four SIM cards —two nano SIM cards and two eSIMs—with two of those lines always available for cellular reception.
You can freely switch between different SIMs—for example, using two phone numbers simultaneously for work and personal use, then switching to a SIM dedicated to data communication while gaming.
The wide-angle camera features a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-710 sensor.
It has a 1/1.56-inch sensor size, an f/1.8 aperture, and supports optical image stabilization.
The ultra-wide-angle camera has 8 million pixels and, in addition to a 118.6-degree ultra-wide field of view, supports macro photography down to 2.5 cm.
Although there is no telephoto lens, digital zoom up to about 5x allows you to take photos of sufficient quality for sharing on social media.
The battery has a high capacity of 8,000 mAh.
It also supports 90W charging, allowing for a full charge in a short amount of time.
It boasts a continuous usage time of 9.3 hours for gaming, 61.7 hours for 5G calls, and 37 hours for video playback.
It also supports bypass charging, allowing you to use the device while preserving battery life.
It’s said to withstand 1,200 charge cycles and 7 years of use.
The Legion Y70 (2026) is currently available only in China.
That said, Legion-branded PCs and tablets are sold in other countries as well, and the brand has established a solid reputation.
I hope that, in addition to the Motorola brand, these Legion smartphones will also be launched in other countries.
