Background of the Initiative

Japan's construction industry faces a serious shortage of skilled workers. The number of skilled workers, which was approximately 3.3 million in 2019, is projected to fall below 2 million by 2025.
Furthermore, strict restrictions on overtime hours, known as the 2024 problem, are also approaching, making it necessary to increase productivity while ensuring safety.

TDBC aims for the social implementation of remote control technology to create new employment in the construction industry regardless of gender or age.
As part of this effort, this tournament features a highly impactful activity: remotely operating construction machinery at a site about 50 km away from the Roppongi venue, much like a video game.
Remote control technology is also expected to be useful for disaster rescue and recovery support due to the advantage of being able to operate from a safe location, and the goal is to draw the interest of as many people as possible through the tournament.

The "e-Kenki Challenge 2024" aims to be a good opportunity to increase understanding of solutions to these issues and to lead to the creation of new workers.
