Report of "Logicool G CUP 2019" Finals!

Event

On November 23, Logitech International's Japanese subsidiary, Logitech Corporation, hosted the Logitech G CUP 2019 finals!
Unfortunately, despite the rain, there were many fans in attendance to watch the battle for the title of the best Fortnite amateur in Japan.
The editorial department of Saiga NAK joined in the excitement!

Gaming devices from Logitech, the sponsor of the event, are on display at the venue.
Next to them were the prizes for this year's winners.
The trophy was a special gaming mouse decorated with pure gold and diamonds, using traditional Shinagawa maki-e lacquerware!

The competition was conducted in an environment similar to a professional league, where no distractions were tolerated just because the players were amateurs.

Various models of DX Racer gaming chairs were lined up at the rear of the spectator area, and visitors were able to freely experience the comfort of these chairs as well.

In between each round, a fan meeting was held with the performers. The event was a unique opportunity to meet with Neko-kun, a member of the professional gaming team "Crazy Raccoon", and the owner of Retail Row, who signed autographs and took two-shot photos with the audience, something that is not usually possible.
Both of these streamers are popular Fortnite streamers, so fans were waiting in line to meet them after the round ended.

The match was played in a 99-player solo arena mode, with three rounds.
The rule that makes Fortnite an e-sport is the elimination points awarded based on the number of kills. In casual, non-competitive play, as long as you survive, you may not be able to win first place, but you may still be in the top ranks. This is one of the reasons why the battle royale genre, including Fortnite, has a low threshold.
However, in the competitive world, simply surviving is not enough to catch up to the players who have accumulated more elimination points.
In the competitive scene, Fortnite players must be able to steadily accumulate elimination points while securing a high ranking in a battle against other players who are proud of their skills. And that's in three rounds in a row, under the strain of the real thing!
The pressure on the amateur players to take advantage of the few chances they have is different from the pressure on the professionals who continue to produce results in many tournaments, and I could feel it in the expressions and atmosphere on the players' faces as they stared intently at the monitors.

Mongraal.jp did not let an early knockout in Round 2 get him down, and he still managed to place in the tournament!
With the North American boot camp he won, will he be recognized around the world as the Japanese Mongraal? and will he be recognized around the world? We can't wait to see what the future holds!

NEXUS.shushupiy won the prize as a fan of k4sen, who was the overall host, and won the opportunity to speak directly with him on stage!
Incidentally, there were three players with NEXUS in the finals. It is no wonder that NEXUS is a high-level clan that imposes specific activities in tournaments and on the distribution network as a condition for participation. He himself said that he went to the tournament with the mindset of just having fun, and he was very impressed with the prizes.
This was a solo competition, but we can expect great things from NEXUS in duo and squad competitions in which teams participate!

In round 1, GreenLettuce FA took advantage of the high ground he had built up in the final stages of the competition to win the round!
In the following rounds, he continued to defend his lead and earn points to finish in a respectable 3rd place. He was named as one of the favorites by the live commentators, and he lived up to their expectations with a brilliant victory.
In his award-winning interview, he even asked for an offer to become a professional. He has made steady progress, and it won't be long before we see him as a professional!

Rikki thanked her mentor, saying that her training had paid off! Rikki's consistent play from start to finish, earning points throughout the rounds, led to his good results, with 7th, 3rd, and 2nd place finishes in each round.
She has been through numerous solo competitions and practice matches. He has been practicing for this," he said happily, his eyes shining brightly.

And the crown of the winner goes to Decentra.jp! In each of his rounds, he finished 9th with 6 kills, 14th with 2 kills, and 1st with 8 kills, winning the championship with a combination of cautious and daring play. This is truly a victory that shows off his skills.
In his round 3 victory interview, Decentra.jp says that he was just conscious of his inconspicuous standout to avoid getting knocked down and to survive. Please take a look at the commentary video of the tournament released by Decentra.jp himself, which confirms his research results and his calm analytical skills that brought him the victory.

On the day of the event, he was announced as the runner-up and said on stage, "This feels so good! Thanks to my friends! I want to make a lot of excuses, but I'm going to go back to ." He was so excited to be announced as the runner-up on the day. I want to make a lot of excuses, but I can't. ......," he said, showing his insatiable desire to win as an e-sports athlete. Having seen this, his victory was great news to me as well! Congratulations!

Exhibition Match: Bringing the Fun of the Game

Mr. Cornn from Crazy Raccoon

After the three-player main match was over, the players and visitors selected by lottery had a solo match with commentator Mr. Bodka, guests Neko-kun, Mr. Cornn, and Uncle Ritailo! The player who beat the guest received a Logitech gaming mouse pad as a souvenir.
Perhaps because there were no elimination points, the game proceeded relatively quietly in the early stages. While guests were slowly falling from the beginning to the middle of the game, Cornn was the one who survived.
Behind the stage, in the players' booth, people who had finished playing, including Crazy Raccoon members, gradually began to gather around him. In the midst of the battle, Cornn was fishing and dancing, taking advantage of the opportunity. His friends are watching the screen and chatting with each other. It was exactly the scene of enjoying a game at a friend's house.

In the fast-paced, dizzying development of Fortnite, numerous dramas occur.
The Logitech G CUP 2019, based on this theme, was another tense, frenetic, and funny event.
Among the players who took the stage for the finals, there were a few who looked like junior high school students. It was a great opportunity to see the buds of the next generation in e-sports, which has just been born, begin to grow, but not too quickly and surely.
In particular, during the talk session waiting for the results to be announced, an elementary school child took to the podium in the heat of the moment! "I want to be first in the world competition! " he said, expressing his passionate desire.
His talk was full of cuteness as he talked about how his parents bought him a gaming PC and how he is only allowed to play games for one hour a day, which instantly put the audience in a friendly mood.

The venue was filled with people of all ages, including parents with children of elementary school age or younger, groups of young people with their friends, and nice middle-aged men in suits, all of whom were there to watch the athletes compete.
eSports can be played online and can be enjoyed even without meeting face-to-face.
However, offline, "real-life" events are still a special experience. It is no different from any other sport, where players come together to show the results of their training and celebrate each other's success and glory.

Among such events, the Logitech G CUP has a strong presence as a place to discover amateur talent, and I could feel this firsthand through the players, guests, management, spectators, and all visitors. We definitely look forward to next year's event!

Now let's wish e-sports even more excitement and good luck to the e-sports athletes in the future, and receive some chocolates with the Logitech G logo on them as a commemorative entrance gift.
