Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. announced today a price revision to the suggested retail price of thePlayStation 5 (PS5) and related peripherals in Japan.
Price revision effective September 2; PS5 to be priced at approx. 80,000 yen
The price revision of the suggested retail prices of related peripherals will take effect on Monday, September 2, 2024. Sony Interactive Entertainment has reached this decision in light of the impact on its business due to the recent severe external environment , such as the global economic fluctuations. This is the first price revision for PS5 and related peripherals since the model was changed to the new (slim) model in November 2023. The priceof the regular PS5 with disk drive will increase from 66,980 yen (including tax) to 79,980 yen (including tax), and the digital edition will increase from 59,980 yen (including tax) to 72,980 yen (including tax), a 13,000 yen price increase for the main products. The DualSense Wireless Controller will increase from 9,480 yen (including tax) to 11,480 yen (including tax), a2,000 yen price increase, and the PlayStation VR2 will increase from 74,980 yen (including tax) to 89,980 yen (including tax), a 15,000 yen price increase.
