The third character to be added to Street Fighter 6 in Year 1, "Ed", was released with the Street Fighter 6 update on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Ed will be available in the World Tour, Battle Hub, and Fighting Grounds modes.
Ed is a young commander who first appeared in the previous Street Fighter V game. He was captured as research material by S.I.N., a company that has ties to Shadaloo, but after being rescued by Python, he becomes "Neo Shadaloo" and tries to help others in the same situation.
He is characterized by the psychic power he acquired through his experiments and his boxing style, which he inherited from Python, which allows him to deliver heavy blows. The character was introduced in the previous title as a very easy-to-use character with special controls, and these controls have been incorporated into the modern controls of Street Fighter 6. The classic controls are adjusted to require command input, so we can expect to see a new side of Ed.
