Valve Corporation, operator of the Steam gaming platform, has announced the OLED model of the Steam Deck, the Steam Deck OLED. The OLED model of the Steam Deck will go on sale on November 17, 2023 (Japan time).
OLED model "Steam Deck OLED" announced!
Valve Corporation has announced the OLED model of the Steam Deck, the Steam Deck OLED. The OLED model has a 7.4-inch display and much more powerful specs.
Expanded display to 7.4 inches
The "Steam Deck OLED" features OLED, which gives deeper blacks, stunning contrast, and superior clarity. The active area of the display has been expanded to 7.4 inches, yet the weight has been reduced to approximately 640 grams.
Improved battery
Battery efficiency has been improved by 30-50%, enabling 3-12 hours of continuous play. This is thanks to the reduced power consumption of the OLED display while increasing battery capacity.
In addition, the Steam Deck OLED is Wi-Fi 6E compliant. This increases bandwidth and reduces latency for faster downloads and more stable online play. The processor is equipped with Zen2+RDNA2, the same as the previous Steam Deck, and can run the latest AAA titles. Touch screen responsiveness has also been greatly improved.
Multiple controllers can also be connected.
On the connectivity side, the addition of a dedicated Bluetooth antenna improves the connection of multiple controllers. USB Type-C connection and mouse and keyboard can also be used for a variety of situations. Of course, it can also be linked to a TV or monitor to enjoy game play on a large screen.
Available in 512GB and 1TB models!
The Steam Deck OLED will go on sale on November 17, 2023 (Japan time ). Two storage models will be available: 512 GB and 1 TB. The 512GB model will be priced at 84,800 yen (including tax) and the 1TB model at 99,800 yen (including tax). Considering the difference in price, the 1 TB model looks more cosy.
