At Saiga NAK, we actively share information and reviews on energy drinks alongside news about games and esports.
I’m always on the lookout for “rare energy drinks”—whether I’m traveling domestically or on business trips abroad—and I’ve been bringing them back home, but this time, I actually had a surprise reunion with one.
So, I’m here to review “Predator Energy,” an energy drink making its debut in Japan!
An Early Review of the Japanese Version of “Predator Energy”!
Asahi Beverage Co., Ltd. — which distributes Monster Energy and Rainstorm in Japan— has announced the launch of a new energy drink brand, “Predator Energy.”
The company has enlisted comedian Razor Ramon RG for its web commercial, aiming to bring a fresh wave of excitement to the Japanese energy drink market.
As for “Predator Energy,” it’s actually already a beloved global brand in Africa and Asia, and it’s finally making its long-awaited debut in Japan.
And believe it or not, Saiga NAK actually reviewed a “Predator Energy Drink” he picked up in Vietnam about four years ago.
Although I no longer have the empty can, I—the same writer from back then—will be reviewing the Japanese version of “Predator Energy”!
First, let’s check the nutritional information!
- Calories: 52 kcal
- Protein: 0 g
- Fat: 0g
- Carbohydrates: 13 g
- Sodium Equivalent: 0.08 g
- Niacin: 3.2 mg
- Vitamin B6: 0.28 mg
- Caffeine: 32 mg
The nutritional information per 100 ml is as shown above.
Incidentally, the “Predator Energy Drink” I bought in Vietnam contained about 17 g of sugars per 100 ml.
Since this is listed as “carbohydrates,” it isn’t entirely accurate, but it appears the Japanese version of “Predator Energy” has significantly reduced this amount.
Asahi Beverages Co., Ltd. has stated, “ We adjusted the ingredients based on products sold overseas to comply with Japanese laws and regulations and to suit Japanese tastes.”
"Predator Energy" is sold in large 500ml cans.
The caffeine content is 160mg per can, which is on the higher end even by Japanese standards.
There’s also an “Energy Poem”
Predators follow their instincts and boldly subdue their prey.
Predator unleashes your instincts and keeps you immersed and refreshed for hours. It’s a drink with a bold flavor that’s easy to drink and quenches your thirst.
Predator Energy is the energy drink that helps you push past your limits.
RULE YOUR KINGDOM!
“Ena-Po,” short for “Energy Poem”—which inspires motivation in those who drink it—is still going strong.
Since the global version is part of the Monster Beverage lineage, it definitely has that Monster Energy vibe.
Now, let’s give it a try!
Now, let’s get to tasting it.
First, open the can and hear the gurgle…
It foams vigorously, just like beer, and a powerful energy aroma wafts up.
I used a glass of moderate size to make the color easier to see, but there’s still more than half left in this 500ml can.
However, this is a stay-on-tab can with no cap, so you have to drink it all at once.
The liquid has a beautiful golden color.
The vigorous carbonation whets your appetite—or rather, your thirst.
As for the taste—it’ s a classic energy drink with a hint of bitterness beneath the sweetness.
It doesn’t quite cling to your tongue, but you can still taste the sweetness right to the very end.
Since the sweetness is balanced by just the right amount of carbonation, it goes down refreshingly smooth.
It’s a flavor that reminds you, “This is what an energy drink is all about…!”
Above all, “Predator Energy” boasts excellent value for money at 194 yen (tax included) for a 500ml bottle.
It has such an overwhelming visual impact that it’s sure to catch your eye on the shelf, so please pick one up and feel its size and weight for yourself.
The official Japanese website for “Predator Energy” is now live.
Since other flavors are available overseas, they might be introduced in Japan as well if this one proves popular here.
“Predator Energy” will go on sale in Japan on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
