OnePlus, a high-end smartphone manufacturer, operates as a brand under the OPPO umbrella.
If you visit an OPPO store in China, you will find a dedicated OnePlus corner filled with gaming-focused products.
In this article, I introduce the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra, released in May 2026.
OnePlus's Gaming Smartphone Lineup
OnePlus smartphones in China come in three main lines: flagship models like the OnePlus 15, which feature Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon chipsets; the mid-to-high-range Ace series; and the mid-range Turbo series.
Meanwhile, in the global market, models with R or T suffixes replace the Ace line.
The lineup is complex, with the Nord series serving as a substitute for Turbo models.
The OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra introduced here is a high-end smartphone featuring MediaTek’s top-tier Dimensity 9500 chipset.
The display measures 6.78 inches with a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels and a high maximum refresh rate of 165Hz.
It also features a built-in 16-megapixel front camera.
Sister models, the Ace 6 and Ace 6T, are already on sale; however, they are positioned as lower-end models with different chipset performance.
Cyber-Inspired Rear Design That Screams "Gaming Device"
The device comes in two colors, referred to in Chinese as "金属風暴" (Metal Storm) and "王牌覚醒" (Ace Awakening).
The former is a gold-toned model, while the latter features a black base with blue neon colors and the ACE logo.
It captures the aesthetic of a gaming-focused model.
The camera specs are modest, with a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
Since gaming is the primary use case, a high-quality main camera is more than sufficient.
Equipped with a Powerful 8600mAh Battery and 120W Charging
The battery is a massive 8600mAh and supports bypass charging.
It also supports 120W fast charging, allowing you to charge about halfway in approximately 20 minutes from a dead battery, providing peace of mind when you are in a hurry.
Surprisingly, despite being marketed as a gaming model, it lacks physical trigger buttons on the side.
Instead, the left side features a shortcut button for AI features or launching the camera.
This is likely a cost-cutting measure, as the internal design is shared with other OnePlus smartphones.
The device measures 162.45 x 77.47 x 8.45mm and weighs 217g.
ColorOS and a New Cooling System for Comfort
The OS, ColorOS 16, is shared with OPPO and based on Android 16.
It delivers excellent graphic performance and fast display transitions.
It also improves compatibility with iOS, allowing for smooth file transfers—the same features found on OPPO smartphones sold in Japan.
Overall performance is smooth.
General apps run perfectly, and the high-speed display ensures comfortable gameplay.
The new internal Glacier Cooling System combines a massive Glacier Vapor Chamber with 2K Supercritical Glacier Graphite to improve heat dissipation.
Combined with a touch design tailored for shooting game control styles, it unleashes performance to achieve stable, full-frame gaming.
Comfortable Play with the Newly Designed Gamepad
The separately sold gamepad is designed to fit the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra perfectly.
You pull the gamepad apart to the left and right, place the smartphone inside, and lock it in.
It uses a USB Type-C connection rather than Bluetooth, providing high response speeds.
The two-tone finish in OnePlus’s corporate colors, white and red, gives it a refined look.
At 150g, the device is relatively light and easy to handle.
The grip section flares downward, designed to be supported by the palm of your hand.
Holding it, you feel confident even while using it with one hand, showcasing the high quality of the grip.
Future Compatibility with Other OnePlus Smartphones
In addition to the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra, it works with the Ace 6 series and the OnePlus 15.
OnePlus will expand compatibility to other models in the future.
Four High-Response Buttons
Using the four buttons simplifies gaming controls, allowing you to comfortably touch the screen while holding the gamepad.
The button response speed is 1.8ms, with a key polling rate of 1000Hz.
Furthermore, an official OnePlus external air-cooling fan can attach magnetically to the OnePlus logo in the center.
The USB Type-C port on the bottom supports charging and headphones.
A Must-Have Item to Purchase Simultaneously
Third-party gamepads often have loose fits or incorrect sizing, making them difficult to use.
Since this is an official product, it fits perfectly, and the usability is outstanding.
It is a must-have item to purchase along with the device.
The OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra starts at 3799 yuan (approx. 559 USD) for the 12GB+256GB model.
There are five configurations available, up to a maximum of 16GB+1TB, so you can purchase according to your budget.
The gamepad costs 449 yuan (approx. 66 USD).
Since OnePlus has not officially launched in Japan, opportunities to touch the actual device are rare, but if you go to China, I highly recommend experiencing it at an OPPO store.
