The winner of the " EVO Japan 2024 " fighting game festival, "Tekken 8," held from April 27 (Friday) to 29 (Monday), 2024, was THY chikurin!
The first "Tekken 8" World Champion was crowned!
Tekken 8" will be released in January 2024. It has been about 9 years since "Tekken 7", which has been updated longer than the developers expected, and the world champion will be decided at "EVO Japan 2024".
Before the opening of the finals, Chief Director Katsuhiro Harada and Producer Michael Muray, both members of the development team, took the stage. Tekken 8 is the first home-operated title in the series, and they said that they would like to continue to work with the community to make it a reality.

A surprise Season 1 trailer was shown! The second playable character for Season 1, Lidia Sobieska, has been announced.
In addition, battle balance adjustments will be made in spring 2024, and new stages and photo modes will be added in the summer.

The two players who advanced to the Grand Final are chikurin from Japan and LowHigh from Korea.
LowHigh lost to chikurin's Lili with a Dragunov on the same card in the Winner's Final. In the Grand Final, chikurin chose to play Steve, but chikurin responded well and took the first game.
LowHigh's devastating Dragunov combo takes two rounds from chikurin, but he is not to be outdone and takes the second game as well!
LowHigh also got the round back with a perfect round, but it was too late to turn the tide. LowHigh, however, was too late to turn the tide. chikurin, who had already finished the game, won the match and took the championship!
While the Koreans were on the rise, Japan's last hope was able to win the "EVO Japan 2024" championship! D. Harada also gave his praise.

Q. How do you feel now?
chikurin: I was worried before I entered the tournament, but I am happy that I was able to put everything I have practiced into the game and win.
Q. You had to change your main character in Tekken 8.
chikurin: I like her strong counters and her lateral mobility. It's fun because there are so many things you can do.
Q. What is EVO Japan like for you?
chikurin: It's a big event for me, especially among international tournaments, as winning it is the closest to being the best in the world.
Q. Did you have any opponents who were difficult for you on the way to winning the championship?
chikurin: Of course, all of my opponents in the finals were strong, but in my opinion, DRX Knee is the strongest player in the world, and I lost a lot of tournaments. I was determined to see how far my new fighting style, which has changed since the release of Tekken 8, would go.
Q. Lastly, please tell us about the appeal of "Tekken 8" for those who are interested in it.
chikurin: First of all, it is a 3D fighting game, so the combat is deep, and each character's motion is well-developed, so it is fun to play. In terms of gameplay, the heat system added to the game this time makes the offensive action stronger, so you can't win if you only defend as you have done in the past. It is a very interesting game!
