Popular streamer SHAKA hosted a large-scale offline event "Red Bull LEGENDUS STREET FIGHTER 6 Summit", where ordinary players who won the Day 1 tournament with about 1,000 participants and streamers representing each character teamed up to compete in the "Summit"! The winning team was the Manon team! We interviewed SHAKA and Akutagawa of the Manon team, who won the tournament!
Interview with SHAKA and Akutagawa!
- What were your impressions of the event as a whole?
SHAKA: First of all, I am very happy that the two days went well. I never thought that I could really win. With the help of Akutagawa, I am more than happy to have won with my quirky character, Manon. I often jokingly call my character weak, but anyway, I think I proved the strength of this character by winning the championship with Manon.
Akutagawa: I just want to thank you for organizing such an event. There are very few tournaments with over 1,000 people like this one, so I am really grateful. I can't even put into words how emotional I am to have won the championship. I am just so happy!
- Did your impressions of each other change as you fought as a team?
SHAKA: Akutagawa is so famous that there is no one who plays fighting games anymore who doesn't know him. I can say this now that it's over, but you said you were "not nervous" but I thought your hands were shaking a little (laughs). I was reminded once again that he is a top-notch player.
Akutagawa: Basically, "Street Fighter 6" is a one-on-one game, but in this event, I felt a strong desire to win together with SHAKA. It was the first time that I felt as if we were not really strangers, or that we were one in the same. I think that worked as an added bonus to my performance.
- What was the most difficult opponent for you in this event?
SHAKA: Of course, the Dhalsim team that made it to the finals was really strong, but I was most impressed with Dompisha who I played in the Winners Semifinals. I have played against them many times in various tournaments, but this time I felt a different kind of motivation or spirit in the game. Even when we lost, I honestly thought, "I don't know if I could win even if we played one more time.
Akutagawa: The Dhalsim team was really tough. Of course, the characters were the same, but Harumy in particular used many Dhalsim-like techniques, such as delaying actions, which made it more and more difficult to win each match. In the beginning, it was difficult because I was afraid that even if I was winning, they would catch up with me soon.
