News

New information has been revealed for the 2D fighting game " MELTY BLOOD: TWI-LUMINA "!
Details have been unveiled regarding the battle system added since the previous title and the new " Grand Scenario Mode."
It has also been announced that the game will be showcased at the "Tokyo Game Show 2026."

New details on "MELTY BLOOD: TWI-LUMINA" have been revealed!

New information on " MELTY BLOOD: TWI-LUMINA " (hereinafter referred to as TWI-LUMINA) was announced during the " TYPE-MOON TIMES Special Edition at FGO Fes. 2026 " program.

A new control mode called "Act," which lets you unleash special moves with a single button, has been added!

YouTube

A new control type called " Act " has been added to TWI-LUMINA.
Unlike the traditional control scheme, "Act" allows you to dash with a single forward input and perform special moves with a single button press—no command inputs required.
Similar to the "Modern" control scheme in *Street Fighter 6*, this system has become a staple in recent fighting games and makes the game more accessible to beginners.

While systems like this often come with drawbacks—such as reduced attack power when used— it was explicitly stated during the livestream that there are no such drawbacks in this case.

Additionally, “Rapid Beat”—which allows combos to continue simply by rapidly tapping a button—has been updated.
The variety of combos has increased, with the final move being a powerful special attack depending on which button is tapped repeatedly.
Combined with the aforementioned “Act” control scheme, this makes the game more accessible to those unfamiliar with fighting games.

YouTube

The traditional control scheme has also been implemented under the name “Duel,” so players who have thoroughly played the previous title can rest assured.

The new “Gauntlet” system has been added!

YouTube

A new system called “Gauntlet” has been added, which is activated by consuming the star-shaped Lumina Gauge located below the health bar.
During the livestream, it was only briefly introduced as “a super-powerful dash attack! ”, but judging from the gameplay footage, it appears to be a system that allows you to cancel out an opponent’s attacks while knocking them back.
It looks like it will be used as a way to counter at the edge of the screen or to deal with the opponent’s projectiles.

YouTube

However, if you use it too frequently, the Lumina Gauge will visually transform into a lightning bolt, and you won’t be able to use Gauntlet for a certain period of time.
You’ll want to judge the timing carefully when activating it.

Some of the playable characters have been revealed!

During the livestream, some of the playable characters—including “Ren,” a new character added in TWI-LUMINA—were revealed.

Shiki Tohno

YouTube

MELTY BLOOD is set in the world of the visual novel "Tsukihime."
It’s safe to say that the appearance of Shiki Tohno, the protagonist of "Tsukihime," was inevitable.
In TWI-LUMINA, he appears in casual clothes rather than the school uniform he wore in previous titles.

YouTube

While he was a character who excelled at close-range combat in previous titles , in TWI-LUMINA he has mastered ranged attacks. These ranged attacks reportedly become unblockable when charged, further refining his offensive repertoire.

YouTube

Also, while the special move animations for all characters have been refined in TWI-LUMINA, Shiki has had cut-ins added, making these changes easier to distinguish.

Arcueid Brünnstadt

YouTube

Alcuid, the main heroine of "Tsukihime," is of course returning.
In this release, we didn’t notice any notable changes to her moves, but she’ll surely be wreaking havoc once again with her signature close-quarters fighting style, just like in the previous game.

YouTube

Also, in TWI-LUMINA, each character’s profile is displayed as part of the pre-match cutscene, and Arcueid’s different attitude toward Shiki is strikingly evident.

Mash Kyrielight

YouTube

Mash, who joined the game from "Fate/Grand Order," is also back.
Her fighting style—typical of a Shield-class Servant, where she parries attacks with her shield while closing in on her opponent—appears to be as strong as ever.

YouTube

During the live gameplay demonstration in the stream, Mash displayed numerous new animations, including what appeared to be a counterattack that parries the opponent’s strikes and a move where she swings her shield with great force.
Since it was explicitly stated in the stream that “she has gained various new moves,” it seems she has undergone significant changes even among existing characters.

Ren

YouTube

Ren, a returning character from previous games, makes his long-awaited debut in TWI-LUMINA.
Although details will be revealed at a later date, a match using Ren was also held during the livestream.

YouTube

During the matches, Ren showcased a variety of moves involving light and cats—moves that will surely evoke a sense of nostalgia for players familiar with the previous games.

YouTube

If you look closely at the character selection screen, you’ll see the description “A tricky character who excels at aerial combat.”
Since Ren from the previous game was also a character with powerful aerial moves, it seems TWI-LUMINA has inherited that trait.

A new mode, “Grand Scenario Mode,” written exclusively by Kinoko Nasu, has been added!

YouTube

TWI-LUMINA features a new “ Grand Scenario Mode,” created exclusively by Kinoko Nasu, who wrote the scenario for *Tsukihime*.

Although few details about the mode have been revealed, Ryosuke Kanemoto ( @ryosuke_kane ), who voices Shiki Tohno, has explicitly stated that the voice recording process was quite challenging, so we can likely expect a substantial amount of content.

Even if you’re a fan of “Tsukihime” but aren’t great at fighting games, why not take this opportunity to give MELTY BLOOD a try?

The world’s first playable demo will be showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2026!

YouTube

It has been announced that TWI-LUMINA will be showcased at the Aniplex booth during the " Tokyo Game Show 2026," to be held at Makuhari Messe from Thursday, September 17, to Monday, September 21, 2026 (a national holiday).

Although further details are currently unknown, this is your chance to be among the first to play TWI-LUMINA.
Be sure to clear your schedule now.

TWI-LUMINA is scheduled for release in early 2027.
