Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary Monster Election Results Summary! Voting for the Second Round Has Also Started

News

On Monday, March 11, 2024, the Monster Hunter series celebrated its 20th anniversary.
Congratulations!
The results of the Monster Election, a commemorative project held during such a milestone year, have been announced!
We have summarized the full rankings of all 229 monsters.

Monster Election Results Announced!

The Monster Election was held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Monster Hunter series.
Each person could vote for only one monster from 229 candidates that appeared in the series up until 2023.
What rank did your absolute favorite reach!?

1st Place: Zinogre

Zinogre, which first appeared as the flagship monster for the PlayStation Portable title Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, won 1st place!
Its unique combat style and gimmicks involving Fulgurbugs are also reasons for its popularity.

Director Ichinose, who handles the Monster Hunter series, mentioned it as the monster that was the most difficult to create and says its development took about two years.
Since it also appears in the latest title Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, we can expect it to continue playing an active role in the future.

2nd Place: Nergigante

Nergigante first appeared as the flagship monster of Monster Hunter: World.
Based on the concept of destruction and rebirth, it gained popularity as an existence symbolizing the monster ecosystem where the law of the jungle is the norm.

The special variant Ruiner Nergigante also ranked in 9th place.

3rd Place: Lagiacrus

It first appeared as the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Tri, the title where underwater combat was first implemented in the series.
While it boasts a strength that is a threat to hunters even on land, it unleashes even faster and more powerful attacks underwater.

Although it has appeared in subsequent entries after underwater combat was removed, its last appearance was in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate released in 2017.
Ranking in 3rd place despite not having a combat opportunity for a while is proof of its status as a popular monster.

The three ended up having similar color schemes unintentionally, but they certainly have the dignity of champions.

In this kind of voting project, monsters that are teased for being unpopular sometimes tend to gather votes instead.
Under those circumstances, the monster at the very bottom that truly didn't gather votes was decided to be Steel Uragaan!
Compared to the normal Uragaan, there isn't a major ecological change, and Steel Uragaan can be called a pure power-up.
The foul-smelling gas that makes it impossible to use recovery items is a troublesome attack that can sometimes drive a party to total annihilation.
Steel Uragaan, congratulations! (?)
