" Sephiroth " is a new fighter that will be released on December 23, 2020 (Wednesday) in Super Smash B ros.
The " Sephiroth Challenge," in which players will be able to use Sephiroth earlier than the delivery date if they beat him, is currently being held, so there may be people who are already using Sephiroth as their main character.
The announcement including the "Sephiroth Challenge" was published in the " How to use Sephiroth " section and introduced on Saiga NAK.
At that time, we told you that we would introduce the important "how to use" part of Sephiroth in another article, and as you can see, this is it!
I will explain how to operate Sephiroth!
I will explain in detail how to operate Sephiroth!
In "How to Use Sephiroth," Smash Bros. SP director Masahiro Sakurai explains how to control Sephiroth, as well as the various movements of Sephiroth!
The camera in the game is special again, so the same angles may not be available in the final version.
Also, please note that the camera used in this article is still under development, so there is a possibility that some parts may be different from the final version.
Sephiroth Basics
Let's start with the basics of what kind of fighter Sephiroth is.
Sephiroth's standing posture. The most distinctive feature of Sephiroth is his long sword " Masamune. It is so long that it is out of the screen.
The sword is so long that it has a long reach.
And he is tall. So it is easy to hit with attacks.
He is light despite his height, so he can fly quite fast.
The 7P and 8P color variations show him naked, which should be familiar to those who have played FF VII.
The voice is implemented only in Japanese. Be intoxicated by the beautiful voice of Tomoyuki Morikawa.
Sephiroth's greatest feature is that when he is in trouble, he grows "one wing" and gains various effects.
First of all, his speed and attack power increase a little.
He can jump in the air once more, and can jump up to three times.
And smash attacks will have super armor.
You will be able to beat them one-sidedly, but you will still take damage, so be careful when you use it.
Once you have one wing, it does not stay on forever, and it will disappear if you make a mistake.
It can also be lost when you shoot down an opponent.
And a "pinch" is not simply a matter of physical strength, but is judged from a bird's eye view of the entire match.
Therefore, when the number of stocks is superior, the opponent may not be able to make a mistake even if it is over 100%.
When the number of stock is inferior, one wing may appear at 30%.
Without a doubt, the fighter with one wing out is more powerful than the one with the other wing out, so you could say that the more you are in a pinch, the better chance you have to turn things around!
Sephiroth's Normal Waza
Before I explain how the normal moves work, let's talk about the sweet spot of Sephiroth's attacks.
There are some exceptions, but for slashes, the strongest spot is slightly forward from the center of the blade.
If you hit a side-by-side Kirby, the middle does the most damage.
As for thrusting, the tip is the strongest.
Try to stand in time for the most powerful sweet spot to hit!
Now, let's move on to the main topic, normal waza. Sephiroth is a slow fighter in general.
His weak attack is the fastest of all his moves.
His dash attack is a forward step attack. It has a long reach and a powerful blowup ability, making it an easy to use move.
The strong horizontal attack is a slash with a long reach. Remember that the sweet spot is slightly forward from the center.
It is also possible to strike up and down.
I can hit a downed opponent by launching it downward.
The upper attack is a thrusting attack with a long reach and a sustained decision. The sweet spot of the thrust attack is at the tip.
When activated, it can also launch the opponent in front of you.
The lower strong attack is a sliding attack. It moves quite a bit, so it can be used as a check.
Since the posture is low, depending on the opponent, it may be possible to attack through the attack. As long as you don't get offset.
The side smash attack is an all-out side swing with a long reach.
It has enough reach, power, and bluffing power.
The gap is quite large, so even if it is shielded from quite a distance, it is at a level where it can be counterattacked.
The upper smash attack can hit a fairly wide area.
It has enough range to hit opponents in front and behind on the ground, but of course the gap is quite large, so be careful.
The lower smash attack thrusts the sword into the ground and sends debris flying.
The debris also has a hit point, so it can attack a wide area and is very powerful.
If the sword does not hit the ground, no debris will be sent out, but the attack is directed diagonally downward, so it can be used to prevent a return to the ground.
The downward smash attack is a strong shield destroyer.
The aerial normal attack is a finger-pounding attack with a wide range.
It comes out quickly among Sephiroth's moves, so it can be used as a check.
The front aerial attack is a thrust attack with a long reach.
It can be used to block a return by taking advantage of its long reach.
However, the hit detection is very thin, and depending on the opponent, a small jump attack may no longer hit.
The most distinctive feature of the front aerial attack is that it can be used to jump against a wall.
Use it as a feint to get back to the opponent, and use it to shift the timing!
The rear mid-air attack has a wider hit radius and higher power than the front mid-air attack.
It is important to hit a grounded opponent just before the ground for both the front and rear aerial attacks.
The front attack has a 13f onset time and the rear attack has a 15f onset time, so it is better to use both depending on the situation.
Smash Bros. is a funny perdie game, so I don't care! It's fun when you hit it!
The mid-air attack is a wide range flurry.
It does not have a wide frontal attack range, but it is an easy-to-use technique that can be used for various interceptions.
The lower mid-air attack is called " Gokumon," and is a dive attack that thrusts the sword directly below the player.
Since the sword penetrates the floor, it can also be used to attack from above the floor.
The sword is long, so the attack has a wide range, and it is possible to prevent the attacker from returning from outside the cliff.
It also has a meteo effect, but it is difficult to use outside of a cliff because of its rapid descent.
If you are aiming for a meteo, be sure to keep your foothold.
Next is the throw. The premise is that the throws of fighters with swords are generally less powerful. Sephiroth is no different.
The forward throw is a forward thrust.
The back throw teleports the opponent backward and blows him away.
The up-throw throws the opponent into the air. It is easy to connect with a strong upper attack such as a thrust.
The down throw slams the opponent to the ground.
Even though the power of the throw itself is low, it can be used in various ways, such as in a combo or as a shield breaker.
Special Moves of Sephiroth
The normal special move is a flying tool that changes into three different types depending on how much you hold it up. The Special Move button is set to the default setting of B.
Flare with "B" without holding down almost all the time. The distance is long and it explodes at the end.
If you hold it back a little, the light turns blue and it becomes a mega flare. The distance is shorter than the flare, but the power is higher.
If it is held up to the end, it becomes a Giga Flare.
It is a very powerful explosion that blasts the opponent with a powerful blast.
It takes a long time to fire the flare, but it is extremely powerful!
The shield button can be used to cancel the hoarding, but the hoarding stage cannot be held. If you cancel, you will have to start from the beginning.
Giga Flare has a long hold time, so even if you try to use it in the air, it will land on the ground until the hold is complete, so it is best to think of it as practically unusable in the air.
It is also possible to use Giga Flare while it hits, such as with a side smash attack or by grabbing it.
It is absorbed but before it explodes, so there is not much recovery.
It is also reflected. Be careful not to be reflected as it is quite powerful.
The special horizontal move of ← or → + B is the Shadow Flare.
It is a simple attack that fires a thin, fast bullet with a simple finger patch. You can also use it as a "save," but it doesn't make much difference.
However, Shadow Flare is a new concept in flying.
When you hit an opponent with a thin bullet, it turns into a bullet that spins around the opponent.
After a while, it will explode.
You can increase the number of spinning bullets up to 5 by accumulating and stacking them.
It is possible to shield the projectile to prevent it from exploding.
If you are grabbed while shielding, the shield will be canceled and the explosion will hit you.
It is possible to change direction when firing, so you may be able to hit the opponent behind you with a feint.
If you can fling it off a cliff when you have Shadow Flare on, you can also blow it up further from there.
In a big fight with multiple players, you can also use the attached Shadow Flare on a third party.
Since it doesn't stick to Sephiroth, it would be quite advantageous.
But it can be absorbed and
It can also be reflected.
It can also be put away.
When you take out the ones you put away, it throws a shadow flare at you.
It can also tuck away things that are around other people.
Shadow Flare seems to be useful in many ways, but there are also countermeasures.
The upper special move of ↑ + B is " Isshin ". It is a fast attack that rushes forward in a straight line.
It can be used not only for attacks, but also for feints and trajectory correction.
Holding down the B button for a moment changes it to " Hatto Issen.
When it hits an opponent, it will slash eight times, increasing its power and shooting performance.
If you launch it on the ground, it will stop at the edge of the cliff, but in the air, it will go straight to the cliff.
The distance of the "Eight Swords Flash" is slightly longer than that of the "Issen".
It moves in a straight line, so it is basically used to return to the ground.
The lower special move for ↓ + B is " Flash ". You put out a honeycomb shield.
This is a counter W aza that releases a flash of light.
Unlike a normal counter, it releases a flash of light whether or not it is hit by an attack.
Since it is a Counter Waza, the flash is powered up depending on the strength of the attack received.
Note that the honeycomb shield is deployed forward, so it cannot protect against attacks from the rear.
It can prevent, but not reflect, flying projectiles.
Also, powerful attacks can break the shield, but damage can be prevented.
This is ideal for blocking the return of a fighter with an offensive return move.
The final trump card, "Super Nova
Here is the last trump of Sephiroth, " Super Nova".
This is a powerful move that causes a supernova to explode with a meteo, but the performance contains some FF VII spoilers, so I'll spare you the details !
The person who is hit by the "Super Nova" will be randomly affected.
In this video, "Shield Break," "Mushroom," and "Blast" are given, but other effects may also be given.
Depending on the effect given, it is a very powerful trump card that can aim for a K.O. from 0%.
Cloud also has an update!
Along with Sephiroth's entry, there will also be an update for Cloud, who also participated in FF VII.
Cloud's even-colored final trump card will be the "Super Ultimate Bujin Hazan ver. 5"!
The "Choukyuu Bujin Hazan ver.5" is a move that separates the combined swords that appeared in FF VII AC.
The effect of the trump card will change, but don't worry, the attack power and other performance will be the same as the odd-colored version.
