Nintendo has announced a collaboration event featuring the Nintendo Switch software Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the MAXIMUS CUP in the Nintendo Switch Online-exclusive title Tetris 99.
The event will run from April 3, 2026 (Fri) 12 AM PT to April 6, 2026 (Mon) 11:59 PM PT.
The 52nd MAXIMUS CUP Collaboration Event With Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Is Underway!
The 52nd edition of the regular MAXIMUS CUP event for the Nintendo Switch Online-exclusive software Tetris 99 will feature a collaboration with Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2. This title also served as the inspiration for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which hits theaters on April 24, 2026 (Fri).
The event period runs from April 3, 2026 (Fri) 12 AM PT to April 6, 2026 (Mon) 11:59 PM PT.
During this time, players can earn event points based on their ranking in Tetris 99 mode. By accumulating a total of 100 points, you can unlock the Event Special Theme for Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2. Points are awarded as follows:
- 1st place: 100 points
- 2nd place: 70 points
- 3rd place: 50 points
- 4th–10th place: 40 points
- 11th–30th place: 30 points
- 31st–50th place: 20 points
- 51st–90th place: 10 points
- 91st–99th place: 1 point
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a Nintendo Switch title that bundles Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, both originally released on the Wii, into a single package.
With enhanced visual quality and new features like a built-in soundtrack and Assist Mode, it is a title that both returning Wii fans and first-time players can enjoy.

Additionally, on April 2, 2026 (Thu), amiibo for Mario & Luma and Rosalina & Luma from Super Mario Galaxy will be released.
