Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced two new audio products for the PlayStation 5: the " PlayStation PULSE Wireless Headset " and the higher-end " PULSE Edge Wireless Headset."
The PlayStation PULSE will be available in select regions starting in the 2026 holiday season, while the PULSE Edge will be released in stages beginning in early 2027.
New PS5 Headsets "PlayStation PULSE" and "PULSE Edge" Are Here! Enhanced Bass Compared to Previous Models
The “PlayStation PULSE Wireless Headset” and “PULSE Edge Wireless Headset” feature custom-designed planar magnetic drivers, the same type used in professional-grade audio equipment.
Thanks to these larger drivers, the headsets deliver the same clear sound that was so well-received in the PULSE Elite, while also providing richer, deeper bass.
Not only can you clearly distinguish each individual sound, but you can also accurately pinpoint the position and direction of sounds.
In competitive FPS games, this makes it easier to accurately determine the direction from which sounds like footsteps and reloading noises are coming.
Supports lossless, ultra-low-latency connectivity via PlayStation Link
Both models support PlayStation Link, delivering lossless, ultra-low-latency audio.
You can seamlessly switch connections between PlayStation Link-compatible devices, such as the PS5, PlayStation Portal Remote Player, PC, and Mac.
Simultaneous connection with compatible Bluetooth devices is also supported.
Features an AI Noise-Canceling Microphone and a New Design
The built-in microphone features AI-powered noise rejection, which suppresses ambient noise to deliver clear audio during in-game voice chat.
The headset design has been revamped for long-lasting comfort and durability, and the ear cups can be rotated to fold flat, making it convenient for travel.
Both models are available in two colors: White and Midnight Black.
The high-end “PULSE Edge” model features ANC and a detachable boom microphone
The drivers in the high-end "PULSE Edge" model incorporate eight magnets —twice as many as the PlayStation PULSE.
This delivers richer, deeper bass while maintaining the precision and clarity needed to hear even the finest details.
In addition to Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which suppresses unwanted ambient noise, it also features a detachable boom microphone for clearer voice chat.
When the boom microphone is detached, you can use the headset’s built-in microphone.
It offers a comfortable fit thanks to high-quality materials and comes with a carrying case to protect the headset while on the go.
Live demonstrations at the PlayStation booth at Tokyo Game Show 2026
At the PlayStation booth during “Tokyo Game Show 2026,” held at Makuhari Messe from Thursday, September 17, 2026, through Monday, September 21, 2026 (a national holiday), both models will be on display in showcases.
The “PlayStation PULSE Wireless Headset” will be available in select regions starting in the 2026 holiday season, while the “PULSE Edge Wireless Headset” will be released in stages starting in early 2027.
