ASUS Japan recently announced the " ROG Swift 360Hz PG259QN ( PG259QN)," a gaming monitor for professional e-sports players that boasts the world's fastest refresh rate of 360Hz.
ASUS, which previously set the record for the world's fastest refresh rate of 280Hz with the " TUF Gaming VG279QM," has once again broken the record, and we are excited to see how much faster gaming monitors can go.
The PG259QN is so high-performance that it may no longer be difficult to determine its true value unless you are a professional e-sports player.
The PG259QN is scheduled to go on sale on December 18, 2020 (Friday), but before that, we had a chance to touch the actual product and would like to review it.
Designed for ease of use
In addition to the monitor itself, the following items are included in the package
- Stand
- DisplayPort cable
- HDMI cable
- USB cable
- AC adapter
- AC cord
and so on.
It is nice to have a wide variety of cables.
The monitor itself is quite heavy, weighing approximately 7 kg, so when assembling it, place the LCD surface gently on a flat table or the like.
Connect the stand to the main body of the monitor.
The stand is guided by a groove, so there is no need to align it, and it will naturally be in the proper position when inserted as is.
The bottom of the stand is equipped with a screw that can be turned by hand, so it can be firmly fixed in place without the use of a screwdriver or other tools.
Connect each cable to the interface. This area tends to be complicated.
The removable cover on the back of the stand allows for a clean look.
You can neatly organize the cables around the monitor by passing them through the holes provided on the arm.
If you make good use of it, you may be able to make it look like a cable-less environment.
PG259QN is available in heights of
Tilt,.
Swing,.
The angle is adjustable, and it moves so lightly that adjustment can be done with one hand.
The screen is fairly easy to see , with no reflections, even when viewed at an angle!
Gaming mode selection is available, and the picture quality presets are
- Scene Mode
- Race Mode
- Movie Mode
- RTS/RPG Mode
- G-SYNC Esports mode
- sRGB mode
Six modes are available: sRGB mode, RTS/RPG mode, G-SYNC Esports mode, and Dark boost.
In addition, you can also select from four levels of Dark Boost, which makes the monitor appear brighter in the dark, making it easier to see what is going on around you when racing on dark night roads.
The back of the monitor features AURA SYNC-compatible illumination with a glowing ROG logo.
This can be customized by pressing a button on the back of the monitor without using a desktop application.
Ultra-high performance monitor for professionals
Since this monitor is designed for professional e-sports players, it was honestly difficult for an average gamer like myself to appreciate the high refresh rate.
However, the fact that the monitor does not flicker in fast-moving scenery and does not cause eye fatigue, and the fact that it is vivid and easy to see from any angle, may be a big advantage even for non-professionals.
The product will go on sale on December 18, 2020 (Friday ), and will be available at the ASUS Store, the official online store of ASUS, for 78,382 yen excluding tax.
If you are looking for a high-spec gaming monitor because you feel that a regular gaming monitor is not enough for your needs, why not consider the PG259QN, which is designed for professional e-sports players?
