Xiaohai won the final of the Street Fighter 6 fighting game division at the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
EWC enters the second half of the season
The EWC is the world's largest e-sports tournament, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 3 (Wednesday) to August 25 (Sunday), 2024 local time. The tournament will bring together 19 popular game titles, with a total prize pool of an astounding $60 million (approx. 87.6 billion yen).
Street Fighter 6" Division Results
In the final, Xiaohai's M. Bison and Kawano's Gouki faced off. Xiaohai won the tournament with a $300,000 (approx. 43.8 million yen) first place prize, after destroying Gouki's offensive moves and establishing a gauge advantage throughout.
That YOSHIKI appeared at the EWC!
At the invitation of Prince Faisal bin Bandar, President of the Saudi eSports Association, world-renowned rock star YOSHIKI also made an appearance at the EWC as part of efforts to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations. YOSHIKI will meet with key local figures to promote collaboration and development of the Saudi and Japanese entertainment industries.
