"Coca-Cola STAGE:0 eSPORTS High-School Championship 2020", a national high school e-sports tournament, will be held in an online format.
Due to the spread of a new infectious disease, the organizing committee has given top priority to the safety of participating high school students, their parents, and the tournament management staff.
Entries for participating teams will be accepted on the tournament's official website from Monday, May 18, 2020 until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020.
The champion of this year's tournament will be decided at the final competition between the winning teams from each block from Saturday, September 19 to Tuesday, 22.
As in last year's competition, the three titles will be "Clash Royale", "Fortnite", and "League of Legends".
Japan's largest high school e-sports festival
STAGE:0 was launched with the aim of developing e-sports competitions and producing Japanese athletes who will be active on the world stage.
It is now one of the largest high school e-sports tournaments in Japan. In the first competition held last year, a total of 1,780 teams and 4,716 players from 1,475 high schools nationwide participated in the tournament.
The number of viewers of the streaming reached approximately 1.36 million, making it the largest "high school e-sports festival" in Japan, both in name and reality.
This year's online event was held over a two-month period to allow as many high school students as possible to enter.
In addition, there are many plans to liven up the event, such as the online distribution of contents by the gorgeous ambassadors, including Takushi Tanaka of the Angels and Miyu Ikeda, a.k.a. Michyopa.
