Interview with Rangchu immediately after his victory!
We interviewed Rangchu right after he won the tournament, and he shared with us his feelings, impressive moments, how he switches between games, and various other thoughts!
--Congratulations on your victory! Please tell us how you were feeling at the moment you won the championship.
Rangchu: I was feeling a lot of pressure and quite nervous because I have been doing well lately and everyone around me was expecting a lot from me. When I won, I was very happy because I felt that I was able to live up to everyone's expectations.
I live in Japan, so many of my friends came to the venue to cheer me on. I was really happy because I could see from the stage that people were really rooting for me.
--Rangchu: What were some of your most memorable moments or challenges in working on "Tekken 8" over the past year?
Rangchu: My bear was not well received by players when "Tekken 8" was first released. I was experimenting with different ways to use it, but it wasn't going very well.
By the summer of this year, I had lost my way, but I am glad that I was able to overcome that and bring it to where it is today. My friends around me gave me a lot of advice, and I am extremely grateful to the people I practice with on a regular basis.
--If you had to say something to your character, the bear, what would you say to him?
Rangchu: Just one word: "Thank you" (laughs).
--Rangchu: Just one word: "Thank you" (laughs). What did you think about during the game and how did you change your mindset?
Rangchu: Even when I lost, I didn't think I lost because I had a bad game, so I just tried my best not to lose my concentration.
Also, I think the voices cheering me on were louder than usual today. I could hear them even through my headphones, and I think that made it possible for me to do my best and not give up until the end.
