Nintendo has been making a lot of sudden announcements lately.
The recently announced "Nintendo Switch Lite" to be released on September 20 was a surprise, but now another new Nintendo Switch model has been announced!
There were rumors of a higher spec version, but what kind of model is it?
Same model as the current Nintendo Switch
The new model is not so different from the current Nintendo Switch as the "Nintendo Switch Lite" in terms of appearance.
The Joy-Con can be detached and the TV mode can be used. Of course, all Nintendo Switch software can be played.
What's new is the longer battery life!
While the current model has a battery life of about 2.5-6.5 hours, the new model has a battery life of 4.5-9 hours, which is about 2 hours longer!
This is longer than the 3.0-7.0 hours of the recently announced "Nintendo Switch Lite".
According to Nintendo's official website, playing "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will last approximately 3 hours on the current model, 4 hours on the Nintendo Switch Lite, and 5.5 hours on the new model.
The two-hour battery extension is quite welcome, since the portable mode is used unexpectedly, such as taking it outside or playing it while lounging on the couch or bed.
The new model is marked by its red-based packaging. Check it out so you don't end up buying the current model when you were planning to buy the new one!

New Joy-Con colors have been added!
In addition to the new Nintendo Switch, a new Joy-Con color has also been added.
(The (L) Blue and (R) Neon Yellow set and the (L) Neon Purple and (R) Neon Orange set will be released on Friday, October 4, 2019, priced at 7,840 JPY (excluding tax).
Is this a set for "Nintendo Switch Lite" users?
The blue color is the "Nintendo Switch Dragon Quest XI S Lotto Edition" without the Joy-Con logo.
The colors other than neon yellow cannot be purchased individually, so how about a sub for when you play with others?
What about other updates?
According to Nintendo's official announcement, there are no differences between the new model and the current model except for the battery.
There is a possibility that the built-in chips and parts may have been changed, but at this stage it is still a matter of speculation.
And can we not give up hope for the high spec model that rumors are flying about...?
They're scheduled to ship sequentially starting in late August!
The new Nintendo Switch model with longer battery life will ship sequentially starting in late August 2019 at the unchanged price of 29,980 JPY (excluding tax).
The Nintendo Switch Dragon Quest XI S Lotto Edition, which will be released on September 27, will be the new Switch model.
Please note that the Nintendo Switch currently on sale with the 3,000 JPY coupon is the current model.
Basically, if you use it in TV mode, you can get the current model with 3,000 JPY coupon, if you mainly use it in portable mode, you can get "Nintendo Switch Lite" which will be released on September 20, and if you want to carry it around and connect it to TV, you can wait for the new model to be released.
If you want to carry it around and connect it to a TV, you can wait for the new model to be released.
