Pentagon Entertainment, a Hong Kong-based company, will host the " PentagonCup," a 5-on-5 tournament for the fighting game milestone "Street Fighter V Champion Edition" (STV), from October 16 (Sat.) to 17 (Sun.), 2021. The tournament was held from October 16 (Sat.) to 17 (Sun.), 2021.
Japan vs. Hong Kong vs. Taiwan had a heated battle online, which was streamed on Twitch. Saiga NAK visited the CGA eSports Stadium, an eSports facility in Hong Kong, on the second day of the event to cover the event, and we'd like to share our impressions of the event with you, with lots of photos! 5-on-5 team battle!
When I entered the venue, the game had just started.

In the "PentagonCup," a 5-on-5 team competition between Japan vs. Hong Kong vs. Taiwan, you can see players watching over each other, a scene that is only possible in a team competition like this.
In Japan, all players participated online, but in Hong Kong and Taiwan, where Corona is more relaxed, participating players gathered at the same venue.
Play-by-play commentary and commentary table on the Hong Kong side
Speaking of e-sports tournaments, the Hong Kong side had a play-by-play commentary booth at their facility to provide live commentary on the games.
This time, the Hong Kong side was streamed in Cantonese on HumanBomb's Twitch, and the Japanese side was streamed in Japanese on sako's Twitch, making it a tournament worth watching.
Denesis defeated Umehara!
Denesis, who also defeated Gachi-kun, defeated Umehara!
HumanBomb, who was watching the match, was overjoyed, and Denesis looked more than happy at the moment of victory, he looked like he had done it...!
This match stopped the Japanese team from winning the whole tournament, and the Hong Kong team won the match against the Japanese team!
Offline games in the wild!
Although this tournament is an online event, equipment was set up at the Hong Kong venue so that players could play PS4 and Strike V. Audience members played against each other between matches and during breaks.
Rainpro, a U25 player entered in this tournament, was also practicing before his match, a scene that can only be seen at offline venues.
They looked like they were having a great time...! I can't wait for the offline tournament to return!
The games on the giant screen
At the CGA eSports Stadium, matches were being shown on a giant screen, and I saw parents and children and couples enjoying themselves watching the matches.
I can't wait for the offline tournaments to come back (I said that twice because it's important).

Although it was not a particularly hidden information, the representative of the sponsor company, Pentagon Entertainment Limited, is actually a brother of HumanBomb.

The matches were serious...!
During the break time, the players were enjoying themselves in a friendly atmosphere, but once the games started, they were serious.
Rainpro, who entered the tournament after winning the U25 preliminary round, was watched over by senior players who put pressure on him.

After watching over the young players, it was the turn of the older players!

HumanBomb has been using Chun-Li consistently since the start of STV.
It is said that Chun-Li had some unfavorable times, but even in those times, it has always been Chun-Li.
It is no exaggeration to say that Chun-Li = HumanBomb.
Unlike during breaks or while watching a match, during a match, Chun-Li is in serious mode.
It is only offline that you can experience this kind of atmosphere firsthand.
Interviews after the tournament
After the games, it was time for interviews with the players.
Interpretation was provided in Japanese (Japan), Cantonese (Hong Kong), and Mandarin (Taiwan), giving us a glimpse of the international tournament atmosphere.

And so the PentagonCup came to a successful conclusion!
The results ended with Japan winning 1st place, Taiwan 2nd place, and Hong Kong 3rd place!

The preparation for this tournament started around June, and it must have been very difficult to organize a 5-on-5 tournament between Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, where the language is different from that of a normal online tournament alone.
