Ltd. will hold the "Umeda Chayamachi Cosplay Fest" and the "2nd YUBIWAZA CUP", an e-sports tournament to discover the next generation of stars, at the same time.
What is the YUBIWAZA CUP?
This is an e-sports tournament hosted by Mainichi Broadcasting System's e-sports program "YUBIWAZA".
The first YUBIWAZA CUP was held in March of this year, and the game titles at that time were "Tekken 7", "Puyopuyo eSports", and "Street Fighter V Arcade Edition".
Previous event
The prize money for each title was 1,000,000 JPY, which I think is quite a large scale tournament as far as prize money is concerned for a Japanese domestic tournament.
Unlike the first tournament, the second tournament was held in the same format as the first one.
- Puyopuyo eSports.
- Street Fighter V Arcade Edition
- SAMURAI SPIRITS
- Winning Eleven 2020
The title of the second tournament was different from the first one, and was the same as the above title.
"SAMURAI SPIRITS" is also a " SWC JAPAN TOUR " event, which means that it is a Samurai Spirits and SWC tournament that will be released this year, so it is expected to be more exciting than the last one.
What are the eligibility requirements?
The Ubiwaza Cup is a tournament where professional players clash with each other for high prize money, but the eligibility requirement for the Ubiwaza Cup is that the participants must not hold a JeSU-approved professional license for the title they are competing for.
The concept of the Ubiwaza Cup is to be a tournament for amateurs only, and it aims to be the highest level of amateur competition.
There are various interpretations such as you cannot receive high prize money without a JeSU-approved professional license or you are not allowed to give out high prize money, etc. The JeSU Tokyo Chapter Secretary General also stated that the organizer is the one who decides the prize money, and there are many noisy issues about high prize money in e-sports. However, the Ubiwaza Cup is a tournament where players can receive prize money even if they do not have a JeSU professional license.
The concept of the Ubiwaza Cup is to be an "amateur-only" tournament, and JeSU-recognized professional license holders are not allowed to participate.
Unfortunately, entries are already closed, but the list of winners (tournament participants) is available on the official website, so be sure to find your favorite players and support them!
