The 14th Teens Apps Awards, Where Junior High and High School Students Aim for the Top of App Development, Announced! Applications Are Now Open!

The dates for the "14th Teens Apps Awards," which determines the top of app and web service development for junior high and high school students, have been announced.
For the 2024 tournament, a new AI Development Division will be established in addition to the General Development Division and Idea Division.

What is "Teens Apps Awards"?

"Teens Apps Awards" has been held since 2011 to discover and nurture the next generation of young creators who are junior high and high school students.
The 2024 competition is held under the theme “Try it. Your current self, technology, and ideas.” Excellent works are selected from entries submitted nationwide based on their planning ability and technical skill.
While this contest was previously held with the General Development Division and Idea Division, the AI Development Division will be newly added this year.

AI Development Division

The AI Development Division allows participation by individuals or groups and involves developing an app or service with AI as a core function.
Submissions are accepted for iOS or Android apps for devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, or Web services that run on a Web browser (PC/smartphone).
The project theme is open.

Schedule

  • Main Entry Start: Thursday, June 20
  • Entry Deadline: Monday, September 9
  • First Round Result Announcement: Monday, September 23
  • Second Round Selection Meeting: Sunday, October 20
  • Final Tournament: Sunday, November 17
"AI Development Division" Application Overview
Eligibility ・Those born on or after April 2, 2006.
・Participation is possible for individuals or groups. In the case of group participation, a maximum of 4 people can take the stage on the day of the Final Tournament.
Additionally, there will be limits on the number of company awards and novelty items distributed.
・Those who can give an on-site presentation at the Final Tournament held in Tokyo (Sunday, November 17, 2024).

General Development Division

In the General Development Division, participants develop a smartphone app or web service individually or as a team.
Submissions are accepted for iOS or Android apps for devices such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, or Web services that run on a Web browser (PC/smartphone).
The project theme is basically open, but hints are provided, such as “something useful for school” and “something that cheers everyone up,” which participants can use as a reference.

Idea Division

The Idea Division is a division where participants plan and propose ideas for solving challenges presented by Teens Apps Awards's sponsoring companies using the power of technology.
Participation is for individuals only, and competitors are judged on two axes: "Contribution" and "Novelty."

  • Entry Deadline: Monday, October 21
  • Selection Result Announcement: Monday, November 4
  • Final Tournament: Sunday, November 17

Applications Are Now Open!

Applications for The 14th Teens Apps Awards are being accepted starting from Thursday, June 20, 2024.
Since the application deadlines differ for each division, be sure to check the schedule for the division you plan to challenge.
Prizes are also prepared for this contest; the winners of the AI Development Division and General Development Division will receive the equivalent of 300,000 JPY in PC equipment, and the Idea Division winner will receive prizes such as six months of Life is Tech! School and Amazon gift cards.
This is your chance to have your work evaluated by prominent figures from various fields serving as judges, such as Seiichi Saito of Panoramatiks and Hitoshi Nakazawa of Keio University.
