The 14th Appli Koshien, a competition for junior high and high school students to determine the pinnacle of app and web service development, has been announced. In addition to the "General Development Category" and "Idea Category," an "AI Development Category" will be newly established for the 2024 competition.
What is the "Appli Koshien"?
The "Appli Koshien" has been held since 2011 for junior high and high school students with the aim of discovering and supporting the development of young creators who will lead the next generation. In 2024, we are going to " Try it out. Test yourself, your skills, and your ideas. " The excellent works will be selected from among the entries submitted from all over Japan based on their planning and technical capabilities. The contest has been held in the general development category and the design category, but this year the AI development category has been newly added.
AI Development Division
The "AI Development Division" is open to both individuals and groups, and is for the development of applications and services that use AI as their core functionality. The competition is open to iOS and Android applications for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, etc., or web services that run on a web browser (PC or smartphone). The theme of the work can be any theme.

General Development
In the "General Development Category," teams or individuals will develop a smartphone application or web service. The selection will be made for iOS and Android applications for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, etc., or web services that run on a web browser (PC or smartphone). The theme of the work is basically up to the applicant, but "something useful for school " and " something that energizes everyone " are given as hints, so please refer to them for reference.

Idea Category
In the "Idea Division", participants will be asked to plan and propose an idea to solve a problem presented by one of the App Koshien sponsors using the power of technology. Participation is open to individuals only, and competition will be based on the two axes of "contribution" and "novelty.

Entries for the 14th Appli Koshien are being accepted from June 20, 2024 (Thursday ). Entry deadlines differ for each category, so be sure to check the schedule for the category you wish to challenge. The winner of the "AI Development" and "General Development" categories will receive a PC worth 300,000 yen, while the winner of the "Idea" category will receive six months of Life is Tech! School and an Amagif. Celebrities from various fields, such as Seiichi Saito of Panoramatics and Hitoshi Nakazawa of Keio University, will participate as judges to evaluate the entries, so this is a good chance to have your work seen.
