Q. What got you started with ‘Shadowverse EVOLVE’?
Takupon: I’d played various card games for a long time, but when I started working, I stepped away from the hobby for a while. When my work settled down, ‘Shadowverse EVOLVE’ was released, which caught my interest and brought me back into the world of card games.
Q. How do you feel after finishing this tournament?
Takupon: The meta played out pretty much as expected, and ‘Angelic Barrage’ was incredibly effective. Without that card, I think there were several matches I would have lost.
Q. Your calm play in the finals really stood out.
Takupon: Yes, I think I was able to mentally reset myself well. In the final match, especially the last battle, I used ‘Vania, Nightshade Vampire’ early on, so I struggled to draw damage-dealing cards and felt some pressure. Still, I stayed patient, carefully handled the back-and-forth, and from the midgame onward I was able to keep up the offensive, which ultimately led to the win.
Q. Do you have any goals going forward?
Takupon: My ideal image of a strong player is someone who doesn’t make mistakes. As I mentioned earlier, I still make plenty of misplays, so with the mindset of ‘single-minded focus,’ I want to keep refining my play without becoming complacent.
