Tokyo Game Show 20 23" ( TGS2023 ), one of Japan's largest game festivals, was held in September 2023. We reported on the booth of "Kobe Electronics College & quot;at the Game Academy Corner.
Report on the booth of Kobe Electronics College!
Kobe Electronics College, which will celebrate its 65th anniversary in 2023, is located near Sannomiya Station in Hyogo Prefecture, and is a school for students who have dreams of working in the game industry while cultivating a creative spirit. The school is a very popular school among students, holding the number one spot among Kansai game schools, amongst other large vocational schools in the Kansai region, such as HAL Osaka and ECC Computer College, both of which have proven track records in the game industry.
Rustil of Collected Lives - Labyrinth Castle of Kokoe
What caught my attention was the roguelike action game "Shumei no Rustil - Togoshie no Labyrinth Castle," which was created by a teacher in the department by himself. In this exhilarating roguelike action game, the main character, Stil, acquires abilities from the souls of various heroes and aims to reach the top floor while strengthening the main character. This title offers an exhilarating battle experience, allowing players to combine various abilities and enjoy combat in their own preferred style.
Weapons appearing in the game include swords, staffs, axes, guns, etc., and up to six weapons can be equipped at the same time. You can use multiple weapons of your choice, allowing you to create your own unique fighting style and use multiple favorite weapons. In addition, all monsters that stand in the way of your adventure can not only be captured, but can also be summoned from training and made to fight. You can enjoy a wide range of combat methods, such as equipping yourself and summoning monsters, allowing you to create your own unique battle style. "Rustil of the Collected Lives: The Labyrinth Castle of the Ancient World" is scheduled to be released on Steam in 2024, so add it to your wish list and wait for its release.
Other games of various genres were also on display, with children playing together and long lines of people waiting in line to see the games on display. Among the games on display were a VR game teamed up with the sound department of the same school, and a hands-on corner where visitors could delve into e-sports, where they could become e-sports players. I visited the booth and was astonished by the high quality of the games.
If you want to learn game development in Kansai, go to Kobe Electronics College!
The booth had a great atmosphere, with the students exhibiting not only serious expressions, but also happily introducing the games they had developed to the visitors. I thought that the popularity of game schools in the Kansai region has been solidified by the many attractive games that they produce every year. If you are interested in game making in the Kansai region, I hope you will go to this very creative school, Kobe Electronics College, to cultivate the knowledge necessary to make games and polish your various senses in the fashionable town of Sannomiya.
