The showcase combined a 3D scan frame capturing subjects from multiple viewpoints with the KDDI Group's proprietary 3D Gaussian Splatting generation and rendering technology.
At the KDDI booth, this state-of-the-art workflow was on full display: capturing an individual, generating a 3D model, placing them inside a 3D virtual environment, and letting visitors take the model home to view on their smartphones.
Stepping into such a futuristic experience is undeniably thrilling.
The setup utilizes a 3D scan frame equipped with an array of cameras encircling the subject, capturing photos simultaneously from multiple angles.
Based on multi-view imagery captured in just moments, the person's likeness is generated into a 3D model.
The 3D avatar is then placed into a 3D background environment recreating a cinematic world.
This allows visitors to experience what it feels like to step right inside a movie or video game scene.
Visitors could even download the 3D model to their smartphones to take home!
