Alan Wake, the protagonist of the Alan Wake horror game series, joins the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight (hereafter DbD), developed and published by Canadian game company Behaviour Interactive Inc.
The PTB for this collaboration chapter is currently live on Steam as of Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Alan Wake Arrives in DbD as a New Survivor
Alan Wake, the protagonist of the Alan Wake horror game series, appears in DbD as a new survivor.
Alan Wake is the author behind the blockbuster Alex Casey series, featuring titles like Return to Sender and The Sudden Stop. His situation takes a drastic turn after facing a bizarre darkness during a vacation in the rural town of Bright Falls.
The horror novel story he has no memory of writing becomes reality, and he finds himself trapped in an alternate dimension called the Dark Place.
Though held captive, Alan fights desperately to escape.
He continues to write his novel in search of freedom, but is eventually handed over to another Dark Place and subsequently dragged into the Entity's realm.
Alan Wake's Perks
Alan Wake comes with three unique character perks.
Champion of Light
Champion of Light increases your movement speed while shining a flashlight.
Additionally, blinding the Killer inflicts the Hindered status effect, temporarily reducing their movement speed.
Boon: Illumination
Using Boon: Illumination creates a Boon Totem, revealing the auras of generators and chests on the map to all nearby survivors.
Lighting a Boon Totem also increases the speed of cleansing and blessing totems.
Deadline
Deadline activates when you are injured, increasing the frequency of skill checks while healing or repairing generators.
Even if you miss a skill check, this perk halves the penalty for speed reduction.
The new survivor, Alan Wake, recreates the features of actor Ilkka Villi, who plays Alan in the live-action scenes, and is voiced by Matthew Porretta, who has provided Alan's dialogue throughout the series.
Original dialogue has also been recorded for this collaboration chapter, so embody Alan as a survivor and face new trials in the Fog!

New Modifier Feature Announced
Along with the Alan Wake chapter, Behaviour Interactive will implement a new Modifier feature in DbD.
The Modifier feature applies new adjustments to existing match formats, providing an exciting experience that differs from standard gameplay.
The first Modifier is Lights Out, which will appear for a limited time. With Lights Out applied, players cannot use items or certain features.
Developers will implement the Lights Out modifier within the next few weeks, so stay tuned for more information.
Alan Wake launches on January 31, 2024 (Wed), for Steam, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Epic Games Store, Windows Store, and Nintendo Switch.
